Anyone state congress person can propose a gun ban if they are a state legislature. Submitting a bill doesn't mean anything. There's always about a dozen of these threads everytime a new legislative session starts, where a bill stands zero chance of passing, but people think the mere act of submitting a gun control bill is indicative of how a state will behave at large.

I don't disagree - though the introduction of new and over-reaching laws in states considered to be "free" will eventually find backing from ignoramuses around the country.

The democraps basically just said "Pawn, e4".

It would require national legislation to affect gun rights here in Utah.

Will never happen through state legislature.

We spent a lot of time in CO this summer. Those “illegal” mags were available for sale everywhere.

Here in CA? Not so much.

They ALL say that until the population increases and urban centers grow.

They said that in FL, and CO, and VA... and TX.

Remember when Georgia USED to be a solid red state? Now they have TWO democrat Senators AND voted for Biden.

population = curbing of firearms rights.

More like "Democrat population = curbing of firearms rights." Remember that, due to jobs, Democrats are moving from California, New York, New Jersey, Michigan, and the Northeast states to where factories and other facilities with jobs are actually being built. Those jobs are typically in Southern states, due to no state requirements for unions.

FL has become more conservative, while CO and VA have become more liberal. TX has become more liberal, but past more pro-2a legislation in the past decade.

FL also requires 60% vote to amend the state constitution, so whether it's through the state legislature and referendum, the chances of an assault weapon bill passing in FL are awfully low anytime soon.

FL politics are highly complex because FL demographics are highly complex and in constant flux.

South Florida is its own thing, and northern Florida – Tallahassee excluded – are closer to the South.

Old generation Cubans are conservative, but younger generations lean liberal. New York snowbirds all over – from Palm Beach to Sarasota to Naples – turn it blue while rural Florida is redder than ever. It's very complex and I wouldn't say that Florida is becoming more conservative, especially as many Puerto Ricans and blue state snowbirds are moving there. It's gonna be purple still for a while.
