They had one left today when I looked at the website. I think Calgunners are probably responsible for buying most of them

Damn, missed the sale ;(

I had one of these, I loved it...super simple and easy to use, I'd break it out for all the noobs because the action was so simple and easily discernible for the uneducated eye.

Here's a pic I like to post up of the round insertion, you can see that the (lower) ejector is hella big, it mates up with the round and chamber when you push the bolt forward....

My 14 year old daughter has claimed the Wz48 as hers. She prefers it to every other rifle I have including ARs and other semi-autos. Even the Ruger 10/22 gets passed over for the single shot. It's super accurate.

I have a Polish PPS-style sling on mine.

looks like a sweet rifle. I'll bet those things shoot amazing. probably would need to spend 3x that to get as good a new .22 bolt.

more importantly

Mine showed up today. 1954 dated, no cosmolene on this one....it's pretty dry and dusty. I'll be cleaning her up and get some pictures....

ETA: I just took the action out of the stock....nasty commie grease under there! Very simple, but nice little .22.

Mine arrived yesterday as well. The stock looks beat up (training rifle for sure), but the rest of it looks pretty good. Matching numbers, shinny bore, 1956 production. I'll post pix later.

I put at least 500 rounds in mine and I never had to disassemble the bolt, the rifle is built like a tank. Mine was a little worn I think so 25 yards was the max I shot whenever I used it.

I had a Mosin dog collar type sling with it, fit perfectly.

The iron sights on these have gradations from 25m to 100m and they WORK!

Cleaned up nicely....a little Howard's Feed & Wax worked wonders on the stock.
AB124XX, 1954. What is the circled 11? A factory? An OW in a diamond and a circled D on the right side butt stock,a weird d or an upside down P written on the right side just above and forward of the front sling mount and a sticker with 154 on the bottom of the stock forward of the screw....probably a rack number?
Took her out in the backyard with some super colibri's, pretty accurate for that ammo!
Before....

After...

Looking good! The "11" indicates it was made at the Radom factory, IIRC.

Nice pictures everyone. Hey ccandgc, that thing cleaned up pretty nice.

Hey guys, how would you enter this into the bound book for model? The website say M48, but my invoice says M44.

Thanks for the info Joefrank!

Yeah, the stock was pretty gritty and a weird combo of greasy and dry. The Howard's worked well, feeding the wood and cleaning it, and didn't do anything to the pen markings.
That is a good question I was wondering too....I entered all other info, but left some space for more info.
I did get a sling from Centerfire in today's mail. Looks exactly like the sling pictured at the top. It's pretty stiff, but should clean up well.

Pretty sure they're actually Wz-48.

Definitely not M44. Polish M44's kick A LOT harder.

The 'Oval 11' is the country code for Poland. It was used on post WWII communist era Polish arms.

I assume most arms were produced in the Fabryka Broni Łucznik arsenal (Fabryka Broni Radom) Still in existance producing modern arms http://en.fabrykabroni.pl/?

I started cleaning it, man that thing is packed with cosmoline between stock and receiver. I'll post pix in a day or so.

Am I the only one who's addicted to the smell of that commie crud

So all the numbers are matching except the extractor. After cleaning:

Man, I went out and got a bottle of Howard Fee-N-Wax, I love this stuff. Little comparison of this stuff applied to a piece next to the one without.

Yeah, about that. I thought that there was a chance that some dry firing was done "in training". Well it has been and the results are below. See how it peels the casing?

So, 1. What can I do to fix this? Get a small round file and carefully grind it down, or better method anyone?

2. Can I shoot it the way it is?
Thanks!

Mine came in today .. very similar. A lot of grease on the underside.

Matching #'s , didnt notice any import stamp. Nice bore

Sucks that yours has been dryfired, i just double checked mine and can see a very slight peening but no deforming of the chamber.

Looks like youll have to get a fine round file and get that burr out like you said.

I did have a nasty little burr in the receiver around the sear area. Seems the bolt was pulled back at the wrong angle and bent off some metal. i filed that down but the bolt is still a bit stiff, needs a little more filing. Minor issue though

Very dry stock, i gave it a quick wipe of lemon oil.

Photo edit:

1954 Model
Overall in pretty good shape, a few scrape and dings including the .22 sized circles.

For comparison next to big brother Polish M44 (even tho the Wz is longer)

The stocks are very similar however the Wz stock is not as wide at the butt

Neat rifle , very well made as is usual with Polish arms. Cant wait to shoot it

Interesting trigger mechanism and extractor along with the cock on closing bolt.

I think the burr in the receiver was caused by someone trying to open the bolt when the safety was engaged.

Nice! Looks like mine! Does yours have little round dents? Looks like someone took the base of a .22 round and pushed then into the wood....I would try and gently file that out....maybe one of those small round jewelers files?

Just received mine as well. Got it all stripped and small parts are soaking in spirits overnight. That slide show above wasn't entirely clear on bolt stip. Anyone have a better link? Looks like mine was dry-fired as well. I'll get another look later. No import marks. Dumb question. In the small box I got the bolt and what I'm guessing you guys are calling the extractor bit. Can anyone post pics of how this goes together?
Thanks.

OK ok, I did some searching and found this article which should help us all out:

Also my chamber

No import marks on mine either, it's probably the case with all of them.

Thanks for that link!

I tried searching Polish sites for any info, but the only thing I found so far is some Polish wiki:

Crap, I just checked this site last night and they are showing sold out when you attempt to place it in the cart.

Anyone know if they expect to get more in?

So does anyone else's rifle's firing pin put a pretty hefty dent in the rim of the brass? Got mine back together last night after figuring out the bolt. The brass got a good thwack and the edge was a bit bent/deformed.

The pin on mine barely took the tarnish off the casing's rim. Needless to say, it didn't fire. As a dumbass that I am sometimes, I didn't bring any tools with me when I went to try it out. The castle nut was not twisted all the way in. So, I tightened it at home and hopefully tomorrow is round two.
