Thanks to All for another Great event in the Desert.....

So nice to see all the Old friends and Make new ones . It's almost like a family reunion .... Well ,, maybe it is The 'Cal-Gun Family '
Good People , Good Food , Good Times

My Dad ( 82 )was Glad he came out early from Minnesota for snowbird season to be at the Event . He had a Great time / Everyone made him feel welcome

Sidenote:
As we were leaving we stopped by the NRA camping area and picked up a Full trash bag of sealed bread items that were not used
I took them to the local Valley Restart center here in Hemet
My Brother-in-law is one of the supervisors there
This place Is Not a Bum hang out , They help a Lot of family's get back on their feet. People that come there must show I D and get instant background check ......................
And it just happened that when we were there local member from a Veterans group was there and the Restart center gave him some of the Hot dog buns for a function that night

Cal Gun members come thru again ..
And yes ,, I did tell them where the items came from

Maybe we can start a tradition of giving the sealed left overs to these Groups

If we're talking about Lloyd, he was kind and let me use half that table on Saturday. When I left saturday night, it was there with his sandbag on it.

I'll buy him another table if no one comes forward. Lmk

It was a folding table we loaned to the potluck area, the table you were using is accounted for.
Thanks for offering though.

Finally caught up with things around the homestead and business. Amazing what 4 days away from home allows things to backup, stackup and reach near crisis levels.

This SSZS was a hoot, like I've told several, these have become more of a social event rather than a shooting exercise. It was great to get out and meet some of the screen names I see on the forum.

Eat Dirt, there is a package headed your way for you and your Dad. Thank you for allowing me to escape the wind and sleep on your extra bed. It was so nice to wake up slowly in clear air with coffee

Jason, my wife is thrilled with the pumpkins and tossed out the 3 puny ones she picked up. Your wife makes the best homemade tortilla's and (sister?) can make the flatest tortilla's I've ever seen

Justin, I'm working on that white polo project.
G-man you have the best pea soup, thank you.
nubrun the pulled pork was excellent, 12 hours smoking?
Bert, you guys put on one of the best feasts I've been to in years, thank you for inviting me to sit down and partake.
Also I forget name of folks next to you (Ron?), thank you guys for your hospitality also.
So many people's names I forgot, my memory is good, its just short.

The NRA guys put on a super party/get together/event etc.
mrlonewolf frying fish and BBQ ribs. The Mai-Tai's were a hit, a great mix. I remembered why I swore them off back in 1971 on Okinawa, did not have another until last Friday night, had two and that was enough.

The shooting instructor, (Cal?), PM me, I have some pics of you and family at the Birthday party you'll like.

Racinjason and his family make you feel at home and part of the family right off. Chili was delicious and conversation fun, looking forward to next event.

Afteraction and wife (Dani?), had a great conversation, hope to see you guys at next event.

There were a number of new folks to the Forum and 1st timers to the SSZS I met. Hope you all had a good time and will come out again.
I know I enjoyed stopping by the various fires on my nightly travels and a few stories.
Tough setting up tents in the wind like that, but it is the desert and un predictable. Last time I was there it was HOT and dusty with pretty much no wind.

Finally had the chance to chat a bit with Andrew Mendez, hope wife heals fast.
Bako I am going to have to make a run down to your shop for lunch or something to continue conversations

Didn't get to the line much, busy at the table and socializing.
Hope all had a good time and from my vantage point the youngsters all enjoyed the outing. Didn't see or hear of any problems other than the wind. Speaking of youngsters, next event I'll put together some youth shirts so the little ones won't have to wear our adult sized Zombie shirts like a dress.

Once again Mrlonewolf, thank you for all you do to put this together and maintain your sanity.

Now I need to find someone to detail my vehicle, I'm too old and creaky of bones to crawl around with vacuum, soap and windex.

By the way I've decided I am going to get an ATV for these SSZS's, walking is killer and going up hill to the line is a project.

Thanks again to all, I had lotsa fun

Vick

@Mr. Vick- Thank you sir for your generosity and the cool Calguns flag. I fly it proud at work. You're an awesome representative of the Calguns community. And you're very welcome for the pumpkins and tortillas. Glad you enjoyed them. Hope to see you and everyone else at the spring time shoot. Til then take care everybody and also big thanks to Mr. Lonewolf and all other organizers of this spectacular event.

If you need help or need to hand some of the organization off to others, I'll pitch in and take a greater role. I'd like to see this keep going.

I haven't attended the Zombie shoot for 3yrs., so this was a trip I was really looking forward to. Last time it was with my 14yr. old grandson, this time it was with my son, his son, the now 17yr. old and two of his younger siblings. Great memories with my son and grandsons. Two of the younger ones were able to shoot ptoguy2002's .50cal BMG due to his generosity in providing the ammo and gun. Thanks to ptoguy2002's catch of my 10yr. old grandson, he didn't fall off the chair due to the rifle's recoil. I know my grandsons and son will all have some good time memories from this event and that makes me feel good.

Thank you Cannon-Arms for the ride back to my trailer, I really appreciated it. Vick, you are correct, that walk is a killer; especially with my upcoming knee replacement. Also thank you for generosity of the woman (unknown) who drove me back to the line in her ATV. I don't believe I would have made it on my own.

Vick, thank you once again for the great shirts. I bought one for each member of my family.

Thank you to the people who prepared the food and thank you Xavier for inviting us to partake over by the really big white trailer. On that note, my apologies to Dave, the owner of that trailer for allowing my hot chocolate to boil over in his microwave. I know you said you would take care of cleaning my mess, but I couldn't leave that for you so I cleaned it.

Xavier, thank you once again for organizing the premiere shooting event that Calguns holds in Ca. My family had a fantastic time, even with the wind. That said, I will take the wind anytime over the 115º temperature we endured at the very first SSZS in July. I don't know why we chose that date, but that heat is why all other SSZSs that followed were and are not held in the summer.

My future attendance will only be an all day Saturday one. My broken down body just can't handle the Fri-Sun RV camping anymore. It took 3 days for me to recover from the back and knee pain and the exhaustion and the latter was despite the fact my grandsons did all of the target posting and retrieving and my son did all the heavy work.

I would be remiss if I didn't offer my congratulations to fighterpilot562 for his fantastic weight loss! The only reason I guessed it was you correctly was the phrasing of your question and the fact I was told you had lost 200lbs. Otherwise I didn't recognize you. Continue with your efforts to arrive at your desired weight.

I think it's pretty pathetic that no one has noticed that they came home with a table that isn't theirs. I don't even own a portable table, so I'd know pretty damn quick - perhaps, oh I don't know, while loading it up - that it wasn't mine.
C'mon, whoever has Lloyd's table, PM Lonewolf so it can get back to it's rightful owner.

We'll just pitch it and buy him a new one.
Someone felt the need to obtain a used table.
A week later it should have been unpacked,
recognized as a stray and reported by now.

Who was the nice couple that had the 'Restored' Old-School small travel trailer??

The one with the Blue stripe outside and nice wood work inside
I remember them saying , They were from Escondido

We talked about having correct period items to go with the unit.
Well,,, cleaning out my outside storage shed today ( Getting ready for my annual yard sale )
I found a '60's Magnavox table-top Am-Fm clock radio

Made In America !!!!!!!!

Perfect fit for the Unit ..............................

Hi Ron, that is Lori and Sal. Yes they are friends from Escondido. I will let them know about your post here, and when is the garage sale? I want to come say hi and see what you have there.

Eh, not necessarily. I do a big shooting trip every spring out of state, and I still have not unloaded the big lock box in the back of my truck from that. Just 2 weeks ago I found a buddies rifle in it, that he thought he'd lost!

Jaybird,
Wife busy in kitchen with 2 pumpkins

After steaming the pumpkin and slicing off outer skin then mash it up in Cuisinart.

It takes two cups of pumpkin for one pie.

There are 4 cups of pumpkin in each bag, one bag is two pies.
Six bags heading for the freezer.
So from those two pumpkins you gave me at the SSZS, wife ended up with 3 quarts from each pumpkin.
Very meaty, very nice pumpkins, thank you.

One pumpkin that size gives you 3 quarts

Vick
