Default Reflex vs Red dot co-witness ?

I plan on getting a nice CQB scope for my SOCOM 16 and kind of stuck between the two. Was wondering if anyone else has one/both and if there is any issues having them co-witness with the sights on the SOCOM(ie do I need to get a certain mount, etc). Also, any comparisons on the sights would be great(eye relief, glare, duriability, etc). I have experience with Aimpoints but the Trijicon Reflexs are very appealing so wondering if I should stick with what works or try something new.

Wont be able to co-witness on your M1, the irons are too low for any red dot or reflex sight to co-witness. You could go with a QD mount of a optic to transition faster if you ever have a failure on your optic though. Being you also have a reacher there, you may want to consider a optic to be used in conjuntion with a magnifier. YOu may want to decide first if you want a open sight (trijicon reflex or eotech style) or a tube sight (aimpoint style). Open sights do let you get aquisition faster but tube sights will be tougher over all with a solid tube design. I have more time with EOtech and teh Comp series and do like both very much. Eye relief isnt an issue at 1x magnification either. My vote for a Socom II would be for a Aimpoint CompM3 or M4. Both have a extremely long battery life, flip covers are available, and they are as tough as you can get. Simply can't go wrong with an Aimpoint.
