Angry RAW letter received 10/11 submitted 8/7

Just received this in the mail. I registered a rifle also but that hasn’t been received, so I guess in typical California beaureacratic efficiency, we will be receiving one letter per gun mailed separately.

Why the mad face emoji?
Did you get an actual approval letter?
Could you maybe post the text of it and redact any personal info?

I fixed the picture, it should be readable to everyone now. It looked fine to me before, but maybe because of different formatting on an ipad.

The top just has my name and address and a registration number. Also, the serial number of the gun is omitted in the picture, but it is listed to the left of the description.

Personally, I was unhappy when I saw it in the mail. I was hoping they would have completely screwed this up and didn't send any out and dropped the ball on the whole thing.

This was for an AR Pistol (factory Phase 5), it was bought by me as a PPT. I didn't have the name or any info of the seller, and in the seller information fields I just put "see notes". In the notes comment I provided them them DROs number so they could look up the seller themselves. The DROs paperwork I had did not have any info about the seller.

If they did look at the DROs, they would have noticed this originally had a 7.5" upper attached, but now has a Daniel Defense 10.3" MK18 upper (the picture I provided). So either they didn't look that closely at the dros description, or they really didn't care about the current configuration being different than the original configuration.

Nice you, are the first to report. Any details or anything special?

Just what I mentioned in the 3rd post above. I had the dros number that I put in the notes, and I put "see notes" in all the fields about the seller as I had no information about him. And that this was a PPT AR pistol. The DROs of course stated "semi-auto", and luckily I didn't have to deal with the worry of the transaction being an SSE and "single shot" on the DROs. I would have worried this would have disqualified it from being registered as it wasn't considered semi auto centerfire. I'm curious to see if this issue comes up with anyone who actually did SSE an AR pistol new from a dealer.

Hmm... Looks like it's happening.

If anyone has the US Postal Service Informed Delivery, they literally send you a picture of pieces of mail that are coming.

Checked this morning and I see a piece of mail coming from:
"State of California
Department of Justice
Division of Law Enforcement
Bureau of Firearms"

When I actually get it, I let you guys know the result. I registered 7, but only seen one letter enroute. So will be interesting to see if I get seperate letters or just one.

Question......Do you have a pistol brace on it? and did you submit it with the brace in your pictures?

I SSE'd a pistol lower in 2011. Hopefully all goes well for me.

Let us know, I’m curious about this also as I should have one more either coming or should have been included in with this letter but I did not receive it.

No, just the basic pistol. In fact, I hadn’t done much with it for some time other than changing the upper. When I took it out to take pictures I became interested in it again and changed out the trigger, trigger guard, grip, added a badd lever, anti rotation pins and I bought a cheek weld kit that I used Velcro to attach but I don’t really like it so I may change it out. But all they got from me was the very basic pistol with an Eotech sight attached.

So what date did you use for acquisition date, the day you started the DROS, or the pick up date?

if you register your AR pistol in accordance with the new regulations there shouldn't be a problem.

Has anyone else successfully been able to register an AR pistol weather PPT or SSE obtained ?

This letter? No it just says the registration number and letting you know that you are now bound to the restrictions of an AW and if you ever get rid of it to let them know.

It is short and worded to the point without much else, but my ar pistol is now registered.

Got my registration letter in the mail yesterday for my Colt M4. Happened to catch the mailman at the house while clearing brush in our mandatory evacuation zone. Our house is in Rincon Valley in Santa Rosa and still standing for now. Fire line was a block away on Monday. All wind pending up here where it goes next.

Submitted mid August and used the date I picked it up from Markell's. Based on the fire maps Markell's is probably rubble now on mark west springs road. So much tragedy up here right now. I did have to resubmit a clearer photo of the serial number a few weeks back per an email they sent me.

Called DOJ inquiring about my wife's joint application on it. They said it will come as a separate letter. Wanted to save her a felony charge in case she needs to access the safe so got her on it too.

The DNC has changed drastically since 99. The State of Ca is worse then it's ever been for gun rights and the ASP program was proof that they will take guns when given the chance.. as I wrote above; in 5 years we could see an outright ban on semiautomatic rifles here...
