Mine's an '07, too. Apparently, the difference in slide stamps is the intended marketplace - P-01 for USA, Compact 75D for Europe. The gun shoots like a champ regardless of slide stamp.

rivviepop, do you know of anybody who makes fatter grips for the P-01? I seemed to shoot most accurately when I held the gun with a "deathgrip." I'm new to shooting, so maybe that's normal, but I'm cursed with big hands and stubby fingers. I'm thinking a set of wider grips might help.

Huh, not really but I can look around. The P-01 uses the standard smaller grip (nothing custom or unique) that fits most compacts so that's the best place to start, looking at older guns like the 75 Compact that have been around for awhile for custom grips. Most places I know actually concentrate on thinner (think wood, slimmer carry).

Your best bet might be to contact a guy like this: http://www.czgrips.us/index.htm He can make you some custom grips, so you could get a set tailored to your hand size. Hakan also does the same thing, here's his gallery: http://www.imageseek.com/hakan/gallery/pcr

I just picked it up yesterday and immediately put 150 rounds through it. It is *very* accurate and just a pleasure to shoot. I love it! It's the first handgun I've owned, and I couldn't be more happy. Now for some new grips...

Also, has anyone tried stripping off the polycoat? If so, what did you use, and what kind of finishing would you have to do in order to keep it from rusting?

I was wondering how the 97B compares to a 1911. I would like to get a 1911, but I also like CZ. I love my SP01.

Well, the trigger action is much different than a typical 1911. However, since you have the SP01, you know that CZ triggers are just a different breed. I happen to like them. The grip is *big*, just like everyone says, but again, I like it. It's also a *bit* heavier than most 1911's I've shot (which, honestly, isn't that many - 3 that I can think of).

Just picked up a P-01 a couple of days ago..just joined the forum today. I have not shot in about 12 years....carried daily in GA with a concealed weapons permit....sold my guns, moved to CA and have not had one since.

As far as the grip size goes...I am a newb, or at least a born-again newb...but the gun I bought was a consignment piece and it has a Crimson Trace grip on it which definitely felt like it fattened the grip up a bit from the standard grip. Might not be worth the $300+or- for the grip...but that is a thought that came to my mind.

Decide what finish you want before you take off the poly.
Under the poly, the metal has a black parkerizing-type treatment (like the inside of the slide).
Unless you plan on using a paint type coating, let the plating company take off the polycoat.

I have reshaped the beavertails on two of my CZ's and thus required a refinish (hardchrome).
Techplate is local to you and very reasonably priced for hardchrome; if you bring in stripped down parts (bare frame, disassembled slide).
They will strip off the poly as part of the deal.

Which grips do you have now?
The CZ rubber grips are the best for a good grip, IMHO.
Skateboard tape on the frontstrap is standard equipment on my CZ's.

Here is my Limited 10 gun. This pistol fits my hand better than any other gun I have ever held.

I've got a good friend who swears by the Crimson Trace grips, not for the size of the grip, but for the tactical application. Thanks for the heads up, that may very well be a future purchase.

I currently have the standard rubber grips - the grip I get is good, it just doesn't seem to fill my hand completely. I ordered a custom set of wood grips from marschalgrips.com, with checkering, finger grooves and a thumbrest. Dennis is also adding 2mm palm swell on either side, so I'm hoping this will help make things more comfortable. I'll post pics when they arrive, which should be about a month from now.

Would love to get my hands on some reliable flat bottom magazines, instead of the ones with the extensions. I guess the compact .40 had some feeding problems at first, and they changed to these magazines.

Goodeye, real nice! I like the spyderco as well. I'm not sure about the .40 mags, but 9mm mec-gar mags have flat metal bases. Also check out the cz forum. I know some people wanted to change flat bases for rubber ones.

CZ-P01. I'd traded it one of my 1911's for this Bi-tone beauty.

So I had some time today, decided to retake some photos of my CZ75b .40. Now that I have put about a couple hundred rounds through it.

Favorite 9mm I've ever shot. Stainless guide rod and grips are the only additions and I see no need to modify it any further.

Thanks! That's an oldy but goody. How do you like your CZ 97B? I was thinking about adding one of those to the collection, but I haven't seen or picked up one and was wondering about how big of a gun it is.
