Bringing .22 M82 Barrett and .22 M200 Cheytac to appleseed

im currently researching the applesend event and it looks very fun. i think my wife would join too since shes also a beginner. this would be our very first event.

we can only do one day since we have a wedding that same weekend

can i bring these .22LR's to appleseed? im looking at the Sunland event in October.

I have a Ruger 10/22 M82 Barrett as my primary
Marlin XT-22 M200 Cheytac as my backup





My wife can use the Ruger 10/22 HK SL8 as her primary
Ruger 10/22 M14 EBR as her backup

Appleseed is very forgiving on what you run - "run what you brung"

To get the best out of the tuition you need to be able to fit a 1 1/4 inch GI sling and so need an attachment swivel on the front at least.

One of the few things "not allowed" is the use of a bipod or monopod.

Scopes are allowed but unless you have eyesight problems you will again probably do better with iron sights so if you have backup iron sight attachments bring those as well. If not, don't sweat it, just run with the scopes.

In my experience, people who get the most out of the instruction are those who just come "as they are" for the first AS. Thats where you will really work out what works for you and your rifle and what you need to change in order to come back and "earn the patch". Those who try and work it all out before attending their first in order to try and make the score on the first trip out tend to get frustrated by the reality of "no plan survives first contact..."

oh no bipod? can i still have the bipod attached but not collapsed?

id really like to use these two rifles at the event. are there any rounds where we run or are all these just still positions (prone, standing, kneeling)

ive never really tried using a GI sling with these two rifles.

i have extra magpul back up sights.

yes my wife and i are really eager to learn and take in instructions for precision shooting

ok i weighed the .22 M82 and its 13.2lbs.

the .22 M200 Cheytac is 17.4lbs

.22 M82 is very doable

i tried the M82 in different field positions and im comfortable with it with the bolt release, safety, etc

the .22 M200 Cheytac is also doable in different field positions where i can cycle the bolt but im kinda shaky after 10 bolt cycles. i think i need to lift weights.

ive never actually used a sling on any of my guns so i have to buy some and see how it feels

If you even thought you were going to shoot, standing, with a rifle that weighs 17.4 pounds, you're way stronger than me. I need to lift weights!

lots of FAQs out there on appleseed, for any training do a little homework, listen to what they tell you to bring and bring it.

Single point sling won't really work for what they want to use the sling for (supported shooting positions)

Not gonna work. You preferably need two attachment points, and you must to be able to put weight onto the sling and have it be firm. 'Bungee' suggests that won't work.

If you've got that much time and money into your mods, just splurge $15-20 on a USGI "Garand style" web sling, and some Uncle Mike's 1 1/4" quick release swivels. I'm sure you can find the equivalent of sling stud that can be mounted on a forward rail.

i was thinking of buying two attachment point sling and 2 magpul RSA
