RNS,
You've got a couple of problems with that pix.

First, you've got a pistol that will accept a front handguard, an ATF no-no. Get that AMD65 forend grip welded up and you will be legal.

Second, all those $100 bills each have a strip in them that can be read by a reader. FROM THE STREET. I've seen them in action.

The ONLY bill that doesn't have that strip is the $1 bill. Good luck.

The amount of $100 bills there will trip ANY reader cruising your neighborhood. That leads to the raid that finds the AK.

TKB. Get things straight. You don't need a visit in the middle of the night.

.
what are you talking about, a handguard to keep you from burning your hand, or a forward vertical grip?

There is no federal AW ban anymore, so a handguard is not an issue anymober.

I am not aware of any constructive possession issues with AOWs. It either is an AOW or isn't. If the capability of accepting a VFG is an issue, then every railed AR-pistol, or pic-railed Glock would be an ATF no-no.

I did a job for a customer, installed a few new A/C's. In my advertizements I say "discounts for paying cash or check". this particular customer missunderstood and only saw the cash part so when the job was done she paid cash. $27,000. Went home took a pic just for the hell of it then went to the bank and deposited it in the company account.
That dont matter though, how will just having a bunch of legit $100s be enough cause to search my home.

As far as the ak pistol, do you have a cite in the law that shows how its illegal?

From the street, huh?

You must have been on one high profile ride-along.

If what you suggest is true (that a relatively small stack of $100's, or even $5's according to you...) would trip the tin-foil-hatometer mounted in a 'reading cruiser' and this would somehow lead to a "raid" on the household... well, let's just say that I would LOVE to be party in that lawsuit.

It would be like winning the lotto.

Fwiw, I've heard they have close proximity readers in airports - which would make sense.

Why you guys call it AK pistol? AK stand for Automat Kalashnikova (mashine gun Kalashnikov).
In USSR time everybody who went to university is taking miltary education and will not be graduated from university untill military education and field training completed and graduated with rank. Former rank major lieutenant, military speciality maintenance and repair of firearms, including AKs, Makarov,TT, RPGs etc. I would never got through, if ones I will call AK pistol

Default AK pistol

This was done for a customer in Arizona, 24k gold with white mother of pearl furniture, 2 stick and a drum mag. It is owned by a well known, middle aged owner of a firearm business that has a AK collection second to none, not a "gang banger" and has had me gold or nickel plate many of them, several for gifts to friends

These are like necro posts.

Palmaris, it sounds like you could be some help for people having problems with their AK's on here.

I bet you would have some interesting stories to tell about your time in the military.

I probably would be able to help with something on AKs and Makarovs, even I was taken education 20 years ago, still remember some stuff.
As it goes being in military-well, I have been only on field tranning for 3 month, and most our education was in classes in university. From field classes I just remember a lot of VODKA, really a lot, non stop day and night and a lot of shooting in desert full auto AKs 47 and 74 with tracer rounds.

I hope to be able to post pictures of mine soon. I just have to build it first.

Palmaris,

Do you live in California? If you live in southern California, you are more than welcome to attend my AK build party June 20-21. I'll even go buy a bottle of Vodka for you if you come!

I've been wanting one ever since Goldeneye.

Updated with a new set of furniture. The original set is going to be saved. The upper wood was donated to me for this project, it's from a 545 so there is a groove. The lower wood is from Arsenal that is now discontinued or unavailable from what I've heard.
I wanted to make my pistol futuristic like this.

A few specs on this custom built pistol.
Imported Arsenal 7.62x39 parts kit built by the firing lane on a MLS99 receiver.

This won't stay a pistol for very long. I'll be converting it to a rifle, a Romanian Krinkov clone.

Would one of you Draco owners mind posting up a shot of your piston? I want to know if it is a custom length, or if there is an off the shelf piston.

what kind of muzzle velocity are you getting on 7.62 x 39 on a <11" barrel?

Crappy cell phone pic of my Draco pistol.

Sure, I should buy a real camera. I'd rather be spending it on guns (and ammo)!

I have a Draco on the way and I was wondering what the process is to replace the muzzle-nut with a flash hider or comp.

Here are a few questions:
1. Is the muzzle-nut just tack-welded on there? Can I use my dremel to untack it, then just unscrew it to remove it?
2. What type of muzzle devices or thread pitch do I need to look for when I buy the replacement? (will any AK muzzle device work?)
3. Is it even legal for me to do this modification myself, or am I temporarily creating an AW when I expose the threads on the muzzle?

Any help would be appreciated! Oh and of course I'll post pics after it arrives!
Thanks!

I believe it's just a tac-weld. You can remove it yourself. Pistols are not subject to 922r/925D. It's threaded 14x1 left hand, like your standard AK 47 type muzzle thread. It maybe a bit longer though. Obviously the AK pistol is an AW without a maglock and 10 rounder. After it's been Californicated, threaded barrels is not a problem.
