Just jailed! Walked into the local LGS and this was just screaming "Take me Home!" Been thinking about one for a while now. I'm a weak man when it comes to beautiful!

Congratulations. You won't regret it. When I first started with scatterguns, like many I had a Mossberg 500 amd(briefly) a Remmington 870. In those days I'd see the way more expensive Benelli M4 and think 'why would you ever spend that kind of coin on a shotgun'? Then, after several shotgun trainings I had occasion to run a course of fire with a buddy's M4. There simply is no comparison. There is no going back to a Mossberg 500. The Mossberg, while totally functional, is a toy by comparison. It took me about three years of randomly googling Benelli & M1014(I decided I wanted the heavier barrel) to finally find one for a reasonable price. Totally love it. Again congratulations(!) you'll be very happy with it.

Default So the answer is......

....yes the front sight can be removed from a Benelli M4.

I used an oxy-acetylene torch to detach the front sight from the barrel. I started out heating the top of the sight thinking I would be able watch the heat spread down to the base. As you can see, however, the torch blew right through the softer steel of the sight. Directing the torch to the base of the sight had the desired effect. As soon as the base of the sight turned red it popped off the barrel with a little tug of pliers. It only took about 10 seconds of heat so I don't think barrel got all that hot.

Some work with a fine file was needed to remove the bits of braze welding material left on the barrel. This followed by some careful sanding with 600 grit and then 2000 grit resulted in a perfectly flat and smooth barrel surface.

Default Here is the result....

Carrier comp tube and follower
Briley custom trigger
Benelli C-Stock will be pinned in shortest postion, shown
Custom delrin cheek rest
Shield SIS red dot sight.

I need to find or make a full length pic rail to cover the top of the receiver where the rear sight used to live.

I really like the compact, squared off shooting position. Last details are deciding on the bolt handle and final color.

Default Benelli M4 ATI Raven Forend

I'm trying to locate an ATI Raven Forend with the picatinny rail. It blends in with ATI's Raven hand guard and heat shield. ATI discontinued their accessories for the Benelli. I'm willing to pay well over the original retail price for it. Anyone who might know where I might locate one would be deeply appreciated.

Don't take this the wrong way as I'm sure there's some benefits to the NP3 like easier to clean, and well, it looks pretty bad ***... but does anyone think the original finish isn't already corrrosion resistant? I don't think the US Marines would have procured a gun that wouldn't stand up to the elements like salt spray... they are the *marines*

I added the larger charging handle.

I didn't buy the H2O for its corrosion resistance, I bought it cuz it looks like a bad mutha-shutyomouth. Ninety-five percent of my guns are bought due to want rather than need. 😎 I ain't trying to front.

Question for all of the M4 lovers/enthusiast, what makes the Benelli so much better than all other semi auto tactical shotguns? Also, what makes it so much better that it's literally DOUBLE the price of most of it's competitors? Forgive me if this has already been answered, thanks.

lol, I think that was part of the selling point for all of us

I bought it because of the gas system - most other semi's have a lot of people complaining that their shotguns are picky about ammo, and the m4 just eats whatever you feed it without any fuss.

Better for what? Competition? Benelli M2, FN SLP, or Remington VersaMax. For everything else, purchase decision for me was based around reliability/track record, durability, easy field maintenance, the unique gas system, and WHEN broken-in properly, not finicky (will run anything but less than lethal ammo). A lot of other shotguns have poor track records, can be finicky with light loads, or like the FN SLP, have multiple pistons that can be switched out depending on what load you are running. Not knocking any of them (except the Mossberg 930 which is crap IMO), but IMO for a go-to-hell shotgun, Benelli M4 gets my vote.

I cannot find the thread, but the owner of Battlefield Vegas (range) had a thread going on ar15.com, in the shotgun thread he stated he didn't have an exact number of rounds, but since they opened they have had a benelli M4 on the rental line and made a conservative estimate that it has a minumun of probably 40k rounds through it with one parts breakage (rear sight, staff member dropped it) and no malfunctions since day 1. As a fun fact side note, he also stated that Mossberg 500s & Remington 870s broke so often that it was actually cheaper to just buy new guns when they broke vs. fixing them. I will post a link to the thread if I can find it (not knocking them, I'll probably never sell my mossbergs)

As for the police trade-in Remington's, they were engraved with Police Magnum on the left side of the receiver if I remember corectly.

I just way overpaid for an ATI deluxe kit. But seeing as how they are out of production and I want 922r, I'm very very happy. Now to build!

Figured this was one way to get my first California compliant long gun.

I was looking at $1,799 GB, $1,829 Bass Pro, or $1,849 at the exchange, so I decided to get this set up for $1,799 instead.

I guess I donít really need any of the extras, but it made the price easier to swallow, and the case could come in handy for moving and going to the range.
