Default Just did a layaway for a 1903 from an out of state FFL but....

I have a noob question can an out of state ffl 01 holder ship to me (c&r holder ffl 03). From what I understand out of state c&r can send to me I haven't really seen anything on an out of state ffl 01 sending to a ca ffl 03 if its allowed

This.

J&G, Aim, Classic etc are all FFL01 that is how they are able to engage in business of selling C&R to FFL03.

I emailed the guy from the ffl that if he has any doubt I'll just get my money back but last minute I don't want him saying that they're going to pocket my down payment because I committed

And after that if C&R plus a COE. (A self registration form must be filed with CA DOJ.)

...if the out of state vendors are willing to accept them. Hopefully they will but I think it's going to take some time before the above fact becomes common knowledge amongst out of state FFLs. Even now, it's hard enough to get the out of state FFLs to honor a California 03 regardless of legality.

For example: I tried to buy a Spanish Mauser from Cabela's in Glendale, AZ this weekend and they downright refused to honor a California 03. To be fair, I didn't really push that hard, though. The Rogers, MN store sold me two Nagants last year but it involved a call to the corporate office in Sidney, so I'm sure I could have talked the Glendale store into it, if I'd have wanted it that bad. Luckily, Cabelas is a big store, and they had plenty more things for me to buy. I chalked it up to destiny...

Were you in Glendale and they refused to honor it in store? Or were you requesting shipping?

That is strange. Whatever they think California rules are, they shouldn't be affected by a sales in AZ. Were you talking to the guy in the "Gun Library"?

I bought a K31 at that store with my CA 03 FFL, but that was back in 2007.

Yes... Kinda a "husky" guy, mid-to-late 30s.

Is that where I screwed up?

I want to make it clear that I'm not "Cabela's Bashing". I love that store! I even got one of their credit cards.

Plus, I've got family from Sidney, NE...

I dealt with the "Gun Library" guy, but no longer remember what he looked like. The regular counter guy did not appear to be authorized to deal with dealers

It's unlikely it will turn out that way... usually they either accept an 03FFL or they don't ship to CA period. It's actually a little more convenient to ship to an 03, since we are exempt from the CFLC program. If they ship to an 01 in CA, they have to go through an excruciating difficult thinking process that takes almost TEN MINUTES!! Most out of state FFLs can't think that long :/

They replied to me and put it in writing that they will "hook it up" and send it to me directly.

Got it for $650. Here's the details according to the listing, its an 886XXX serial #

Pre owned US Springfield 1903. Chambered in 30.06. 24 inch barrel. Barrel is dated 9-44. Excellent condition rifle. Wood has usual dings and dents, no cracks or splits. Metal still retains most park. Bore is shiny with strong lands. Muzzle is tight with no nicks or gouges to affect accuracy.

It's WW2 rebuild. I there a 4 digit # on the bolt handle (typical of a Greek return)? A Hatcher hole has been added on the left side of the receiver. Bet it's a good shooter.
