What we got here is... CQB-16 type SEI in a Blackfeather "RS" chassis from M14.CA
10 pounds as pictured with a magazine that is empty. Last edited by H2O MAN; 04-14-2013 at 7:13 AM.. |

BUT! With that being said, that Blackfeather chassis is dead sexy. Dammit, and I was all set to pick up another M1A before this friggin' pants-on-head stupid panic hit. Guess I'll see if I can wait it out or just bite the bullet.

How do you like it? How does it handle? Do you find that the weight is manageable compared to lets say an AR-308? Any more pictures you can post of it? Thanks! |

I love the "RS", the balance is almost perfect and it's lighter than the AR-10 I once owned. I have a Blackfeather "RS" photo album available on Facebook with 54 pictures. |

Hey H20. I noticed on your Facebook you posted that your current configuration is 10lbs. Is that with the T1 or the Eotech?
Thank you! Quote:

The EOTech is on the CASM, it's just a few ounces over 10 pounds and is probably my favorite configuration. That said, I replaced the EOTech with a Leupold Mark 4 1.5-5x20mm MR/T in LOW SEI wire EDM rings. This bumps the weight up to 12 lbs. . Last edited by H2O MAN; 04-14-2013 at 7:14 AM.. |

What are you opinions on mounting a red dot forward on a railed handguard as opposed to mounting it how you had it. Why did you like the Eotech over the T1? Thanks a bunch! |

I have seen pictures of the new top rail, has it's weight been published yet?
Red dots an irons are what I am most comfortable with, I have exit pupil issues with scopes. Red dots have unlimited eye relief and their location isn't critical unless you plan to run a magnifier. The T-1 is awesome and I'm currently running two of them on different weapons. The EOTech offers a more precise 1 MOA center dot and I really like the 'big screen' view. I hope that helps. |

No I haven't seen any weight stats published. Im interested to know as well. It seems like the CASM mount puts the red dot too high up for a proper view. Mounting on the handguard would definitely be a little lower.
The only other thing I can think of adding to this setup is a folding stock, but from what Frank told me there aren't really any options. |

I am with you on that, though I am not a fan of the GI fiberglass. That Blackfeather does look very sweet.
Now saying that though, all these options outside of the JAE (which I have one in), make them AW in California unless you remove the mag release. I am not aware of any bullet-button like config other than people using a screw driver, which doesn't appeal to me. I just haven't been sold on anything, and I like using my pre-ban 20 rounders. I did not RAW in 2000 an M1A. Quote:

Other than a possible tweak or two after firing a few hundred rounds, my
CQB-16-BFRS build is finished... the Aimpoint M4 is the icing on the cake. EDIT: my build isn't finished yet. . Last edited by H2O MAN; 05-31-2013 at 12:23 PM.. |

I don't understand the need for a flashlight on a .308 battle rifle? Does that flashlight iluminate out to 800 yds?

I don't think he spec'd that build to push out to 800m. The short barrel and red dot seems to suggest much less then that.

The barrel is 16.25" and I have set the rifle up for a distance of < 400 yards. As you can probably tell from my previous posts, this is a work in progress... changes are frequent. I will be making even more changes to this build that include moving the optic to the new Scout rail and having it sit much lower. I am thinking about having Tony at LAW483.com graft a wooden E2 style butt stock to the chassis. This would allow me easier access to the iron sights without cranking the rear peep up so freaking high. . Last edited by H2O MAN; 05-17-2013 at 8:35 AM.. |
