1st Duty Station (Army) - Help?
So I am here in Ft Sill reclassing, prior service coming from the Reserves going AD. I am going to Ft Hood after this. My grad date is 29 Oct, and my report date isn't until 22 Nov. Anyone have any idea what I will be doing in this big gap of time?
My plan was to drive my POV from here to there cause it's only a 5 hr drive. The in-process seems like it will only take 4 days. And I was going to try to find a home prior to arrival. My wife wont be coming until schools out in January. So I am planning on a DITY move with all my household goods. In all honestly does anyone know what I would most likely be doing? I have no previous unit to clear. Once I am done here, I am good to go minus my household goods back in Cali. **Common sense would tell me to screw the extra days and report asap, but I am just trying to get an external source advice on this.** Thanks in advance for any help on this question. Wait til the last week of graduation for your official orders. My dates were similar to yours and I was ecstatic for an entire month off to spend with my family which I haven't seen for half a year Then I was given my official orders. Only 10 days leave it was...

If you didnt request leave then you are going straight to your next duty station. Dont count on those 30 days or anything until your PCS orders are in your hand
Evidens , which company where you in at 232? What duty station did u get?

Have fun at Ft. Hood. Are you doing hometown recruiting? That could be what the month was for or they're just rough orders and you'll get your actual ones closer to graduation.
Ft. Hood was my favorite duty station. Austin is only about 30-45 mins and it is awesome. Look for the BBQ joint on the corner of Red River and Cesar Chavez called Ironworks. Awesome f'in bbq. 6th street is a lot of fun, hot college chicks everywhere. Lake Belton is pretty cool and there are tons of lakes around Austin. Explore the area and don't be a barracks rat.

If you didn't request leave for that block of time, expect to be "barracks support" which is a fancy term for "waiting for my orders, put me on working parties and make me clean stuff"
