Didn't see this thread yet...please lets see those .22 revolvers. I just picked up my S&W model 17, brushing up on my Photoshop

S&W 617 4" 10-shot, cocobolo Hogue, Wolff mainspring & rebound spring, light-stoning.
This was my first S&W revolver... definitely not my last.

I especially like the K22/M17's, one of my favs.

i'll tell you that this pistol is pretty darned accurate, but picky. very, very picky. it will only shoot hi-velocity plated boolits with any consistency. it will jam on a whim if you try to trick it. and the most frustrating thing is that if your mitts are big enough (mine are) to press against the bottom of the magazine while firing, it will miss feed.
but when you do what it wants you to do, it will ding a 4 inch swinging metal target at 50 yards off hand with consistency. with open sites.

So I've heard. I'm still committed to finding one! Have seen a couple in the stainless finish, but as with all my guns, I avoid stainless unless there are no other choices....I just prefer black

Not the prettiest, but this my Colt Officers Model Match - a .22 based on a .357 Magnum frame. Pretty sure it's a 1953 model, based on serial number... whatever year it was manufactured, it is an absolute tack driver. The trigger pull in both double and single action is as smooth as glass. I paid $50.00 for it about 15 years ago...

Beemaze, I have the same gun, a 4" 651 with red ramp, except mine has a round butt and the factory (rubber) "boot grips." One of my favorite handguns; I can even shoot it if I wear earplugs--dang those little guys make a crack!

They're great little guns.
Mine replaced a S&W 4" SS Model 63 I had for many years.
However, the coil mainsprings on the S&W J frames can make for a fairly stiff double action trigger so, with these lightweight guns you need insure you're pulling the trigger straight to the rear and concentrating on the front sight during trigger squeeze or you can easily push your shot off to the side.

I don't like the current model with the internal lock and hi-viz sights. Mine is an early pre-lock model with an SDM gold bead front sight that replaced the stock ramp front sight. I also prefer the older type thumb latch.

Don't use brake cleaner when cleaning. Its a bit rough on the clear coat finish.

A word of warning though- women really like these little 12 oz. guns.

It and the 63 are definately on my short list though im not worried about break cleaner I intend to duracoat it black and tan anyway

This is probably my favorite of all the stuff I own, and is probably somewhat rare in this configuration (based solely on the fact I have not seen another). Although it has never had any trigger work, it is as smooth as silk in both DA and SA. 15yd line produces 3-4" groups consistently.

That is a rare beast indeed. My 651 4" barrel has quite a muzzle flash (like a firecracker going off), so your snubby must be quite a fire dragon!!!

Yes, lots of MF, when using the higher velocity CCI ammo there is a basketball sized ball-o-fire. Quite entertaining at the indoor range! It is also quite loud, more so than my 9mm and .38 spcl.
