Default H.R. 1296 AWB of 2019 WTAF !

Ok check out this list but yeah no one is trying to take away guns. And now the Mini 14 as well as the SU-16 has made the list.

Another DOA bill, but the author can proudly tell the constituents "he did something"

So i'm trying figure something out about the pistol definition , so any pistol that has a variant full auto will be banned if this passes ? I have a little time so i'm going back and forth in tabs trying to understand some of this.

And yes it COULD be DOA but it's also scary that they are getting ideas that bass ackwards.

Annoyingly the are adding "barrel shroud" to the list of evil features. Currently my featureless AR is actually still fairly ergonomic - but with "shroud" removed it would not be. CA may add this bit.

And a threaded barrel. That is just silly.

They could make it really easy to interpret by simply using one line:
"Any semiautomatic firearm"..

Does anyone have an explanation for this doozy at the end? I can't say I have seen a bill with this before. It seems they are trying to neuter federal courts before it's even law.

Quote:
SEC. 8. SEVERABILITY.

If any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance is held to be unconstitutional, the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance shall not be affected thereby.

Standard CYA language that if a change is found to be bad, they reserve the right to revert to the previous version, not invalidate whole law.

Mini-14 with folding stock banned, Mini-14 with fixed stock exempt, and Mini-30 exempt. That make a lot of sense doesn't it ?

I'm actually kind of surprised that they're including grandfathering. Aside from that they're going for broke.

I'm sure y'all have seen it as well, but through casual scrolling and reading, this bill is full of fail. Please don't get into the specifics of it here and make it easier for them to un-phuck it - we don't need to help them write it.

Severability clauses are nothing new, and its inclusion does not guarantee its enforceability, especially, when one considers Strict Scrutiny.

Yeah and don't take this the wrong way LEO's here on this board because I have a few in my family but you guys can buy these as well as ALL the unsafe handguns not on the roster ? It just doesn't make sense if it's for public safety.

Trump will lose this election. But, the senate could remain republican. I think that is the only hope of this not becoming law

NO WAY Trump loses to any of the current batch of candidates. Too early to tell but I'm a Disenfranchised Democrat who voted for Trump last time and will vote for him again.

Default Trump

I’ll vote for him too but he’s unsettled too many women, moderates and independents. People prize stability over most everything else. Warren will turn “moderate” after she gets the nomination. People in the middle will rationalize to themselves that she won’t be as bad as they think she’ll be...Trump will call her Pocahontas, women will get mad, etc. I’ll laugh my *** off but he’s still likely going to lose

Even if he does not, the reality is that it is only a matter of time that Dems control it all again. Those who say this is DOA may want to remember that as well. Even if it fails now it will be a matter of time before conditions are more favorable for this to come up again with changing demographics.

Hell, Texas is possible to flip blue by this next upcoming presidential election.

Edit:

I would not be surprised if they make this election very largely about gun control to ensure that they get those suburban parents out to vote against Trump. I expect both sides to use it but expect it would work more favorably in the Democrats favor. All of the recent mass shootings nationwide are only helping their cause.
