So how long until it's too late for them to change anything this year?

Remember, the legislative session is NOT over.
This means that there is ample time, a couple of months at least, to gut and amend another bill and pass even more restrictive laws that ban the currently proposed 'fixes'.

We saw how quickly these bills were pushed through and how willing our 'representative' are to ignore policy, procedure and even law to further their agenda.
Does anyone really think they aren't watching and wouldn't do it again?

Remember, this is a public forum and even limiting it to Calguns members is not 'security' as anyone can register an account.

For those who were here back in the day you might remember the OLL Forum.
Something like that might be a reality for this but the logistics have become much larger and more involved by an order of magnitude.

In the mean time remember we are being watched and remember they can still pass laws to block or ban any new ideas THIS YEAR.
I have quit firearms and found new hobbies to involve the family in. Nothing to see here. Move along.

In ordinary times, one could expect October 1.

These times not being ordinary, I wonder if we can rule out a special session. Article 4, section 3 of the CA Constitution:
Quote:
SEC. 3.

(a) The Legislature shall convene in regular session at noon on the first Monday in December of each even-numbered year and each house shall immediately organize. Each session of the Legislature shall adjourn sine die by operation of the Constitution at midnight on November 30 of the following even-numbered year.

(b) On extraordinary occasions the Governor by proclamation may cause the Legislature to assemble in special session. When so assembled it has power to legislate only on subjects specified in the proclamation but may provide for expenses and other matters incidental to the session.
http://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/fa...er=&article=IV

Low probability, but not zero.

There is no value at all complaining or analyzing or reading tea leaves to decide what these bills really mean or actually do; any bill with a chance to pass will be bad for gun owners.

The details only count after the Governor signs the bills.

Kalifornia is going to ban all semi-auto weapons anyway, then will be the bolt-action then the pump-action, etc... until we all have muzzle loaders again. I wouldn't worry about it, it's just a matter of time.

Did the CalGuns moderators delete the BB Reloaded thread? It was there last night. Today I can't find it.

update: Okay, I see now. That thread got put behind a firewall that I don't have access to. Guess I'm not special enough yet.

I am OK with a little censorship here on this topic.

I am really pissed that this guy decided to unveil his stupid invention at this critical time. He clearly cares more about the quick buck or his ego than protecting our rights. Either that or he is really quite stupid. Or both!

The Legislature is done for the year the end of August.

That would be the last chance for them to pass any new Bills.

They meet again the first of the year.

And it starts all over again.

I think firearm owners in all states should pay particular attention to this. Bragging about way to get around laws using loopholes, or similar comments are only going to come back to bite firearm owners.

We all know the anti- firearm laws go directly against the second amendment, there is no question at all when you figure the 2nd is the only one which states "shall not be infringed". The point is not to inflame persons in power so they can corrupt the laws even worse than they already do.

This country needs a cleanup, otherwise we are headed the way of Rome.

Hey, anyone that is willing to share their thoughts on how they are approaching the new anti-gun laws that go into effect Jan 1. I am hoping the laws get overturned, but I am not holding my breath.

I agree, no reason to give our enemies fuel and time to amend their laws. I have seen a few products that would meet the spirit of the new laws without too drastic of a mod. Please Private message or email me with what you are looking at in case these laws stay in effect.

My hail-mary is getting heck out of dodge, I hear Texas is nicer to gun owners.

I'm not sure how to take this... So we have roughly a few months where the legislature is not in session. Whats to stop them from just introducing another bill in a few months? It seems like there will never be a good time in California to innovate.

Legislature goes back into session tomorrow.

They can pass whatever they want until September.

Assume a revisitation of bills that "died in committee" last session, including featureless and further CCW restrictions.

PLUS....

It looks like Gunmageddon does not have enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot (not unexpected).
This means that we have another month to collect the required number, it will qualify for the November 2018 ballot, AND the implementation of the contested measures is put on hold until the results of the November 2018 initiatives are certified.

Assuming we make the September 29 deadline, we've given ourselves 24 months of business as usual.
I don't know how Newsom's initiative factors into this mess.

Good Evening, All,

It's been a while since I last posted here, but I'm glad I signed on tonight, and found this thread. I've long wondered just exactly why there always seem to be folks that delight in talking about all the "get arounds" in public. Some of our new anti-gun laws have brought about a plethora of this public "spewing". Asking for information, to comply with a law, is one thing, but asking how to "get around" one, is quite another. Another beef I have with with far too many of the gun magazine, who have long persisted in calling things "assault" this, or "assault" that, which, to my way of thinking, just fans the flames of those ignorant folks who don't know any better!!! So, as I see it, too many gun owners, and too many gun magazines, are doing nothing but perpetuating things that simply are not true, and that continually get us all into deep trouble!!!

Wouldn't you think that gun owners, and gun magazine publishers, would be smarter than that??!!??!! Just sayin'........

May God Bless us all during these trying times, and God Bless America!!

Every Good Wish,
Doc

I appreciate the need to not discuss "workarounds", but in two months I'll be breaking the law if I don't do something. I'm a newcomer to the whole shooting world, and I was hoping to get guidance from this group.

At some point, we'll need to discuss this topic with specific advice, hopefully in time to order the necessary parts and install them before the new laws take effect.

I'd even suggest this is a top priority problem and should be addressed head on with a "sticky". If not now, when?

Well, seems to me that now is as good as time as any.

The Legislature won't meet again until January. Probably won't be finishing off any new bills before late Spring.

Show us what you got!

So yes, it's going more socialist -> communist -> dictatorship every day. I wouldn't even mind a tinge of socialism where there is a good safety net for the general legal population if there were a viable business plan, they left us with our guaranteed Bill of Rights freedoms and it was fair to everyone, but the "progressives" aren't thinking that way at all. They're just like a bunch of stoners singing "Imagine", and want to force it down our throats. i feel that calling it a "workaround" would send the wrong message to the wrong people for starters.

also putting out a notice in the meantime would be good.

personally I think what ruined the bullet button was people kept finding new ways to manipulate it and thereby negating its purpose.

i am not saying that we do not look to options of modifying the firearms so as to be legally used

we (the gun community at large) need to change the words and rhetoric we use when referencing parts or firearms.

for example: i for one always refer to a gun as a firearm where as others will automatically say weapon. I dont agree with saying it like this because its conjures up visions of attacks. do you refer to your hatchet or knife as a weapon? most people i know dont. a firearm or knife is a weapon when used as such. equally, an ar15 rifle is not an assault weapon. Its primary function it to send a projectile down range and most people use it in such a manner. most civilians abiding by the law do not use one to "assault" anyone or even to "defend" themselves.

Not sure why they would be called work arounds either. To me they are compliance aids. As a law abiding citizen, I will comply with the law. I am not looking for a workaround I am looking for something to help me comply with the law as written. And if there is a product that helps me comply with the law as written, and still enjoy my firearm, that is a good thing. Doesn't everyone want us to comply with the law. :-). "Compliance Aid"

Why dont we act like adults, during a war, and accept that this is a party line or unsecured channel?

How hard is that.

Just dont talk about this until the session is over.

Please.

Thank you Sir for reminding everyone of the daily deception practices used by the antis and Trolls.
These antis and Trolls are all over CG and portrays them selfs to be newbies, trying to throw us real Gunners off track and of course learning what ever they can to use against law abiding citizens.

No dry snitching and falling for the tricks and traps of the antis.

If you are talking about me, man this is a tough crowd.

If you don't want anyone to post a response, close the thread. Easy.

It gets annoying walking around on eggshells, wondering if you can post or ask a question, without getting flamed because there are some "unwritten rules" the "real gunners" have.

I didn't bring up anything new, I simply responded to a post and gave my opinion. If folks don't want responses, a mod should close the thread.

Let me fill you in on a little secret. There's going to be another session after this one, and another and another and another after that. Being quiet for a few months makes no difference, they're playing the long game.

Bingo.

Session was over in August for laws going into effect 2017.
DOJ has not yet written/released the implementation regs for the current laws, which remains to be a concern, but anything overlooked will be picked up next year.

Hahaha No not at all, I was referring to OP for posting.

Let me fill you in on one.

Work arounds publicized on a public form is a sign asking them to "close the loophole".

We live in a hostile state. Publicizing ways to get around legislation leads, directly, to legislation to shut down the "loophole."

Cat's out of the bag.

The manufacturers are marketing the new compliance items, and there are dozens of Youtube videos showing how efficient they are.

What's the difference between never publicizing or marketing new and useful compliance tech devices and having laws passed against them?

doesn't matter, look how long the bullet button lasted as a "compliance aid". sure you might get a few years worth, but again they're playing the long game of banning MSRs period.
