Default S&W M&P 15-22

Has anyone gotten on yet?? I would be interested in your thoughts on the gun.
I looked at the Ruger and it is a 10-22 with a cool stock, and the Colt which is made by Walther, but I haven't been able to get my hands on look yet.

Anybody seen one

Does the bolt catch release operate on the M&P?

I got my M&P 15 -22 as a Christmas present from my family. I love this rifle. Perfect for training my kids and as a training tool for my duty rifle.

Looks good BrokenArrow! What did you put in the finger grooves of the rail panels? Is that grip tabe or some type or rubbarized covering?

Thanks

Thanks! I stippled/textured the panels with my "Urazame" pattern.

I've noticed that you guys have the larger mags. Is there a block in there that limits it to 10rds? I've seen pictures of the shortened "compliant" mags and thats what I thought the 15-22 would come with in Cali.

Default 10/30 mags for MP15-22

Yes...I got mine from rrages.com. Actually these 10/30's are easier to get right now that dedicated 10 rounders which are in very short supply. And look way better.

So is the factory mag that comes with the gun a shortened mag, or a full size with a block?

I'ts a 25 with a rivet block, at least mine is. You can get a dealer to get the 25 and block it to 10 before selling.

Finally got my 15-22 this Friday and took it out to the desert to shoot. I've had all the accessories for about a month and a half so you can say i have been waiting on this gun for awhile. Got a little Duracoat happy but it came out pretty good, I used the Magpul FDE from MidwayUSA. Put through a box of the Federal 525 pack from Cabelas and only had 2 FTE due to loading. I must say I'm happy with going with the 15-22 and it is a fun gun to shoot, would have been more fun if I could use a full magazine(Had to get the 10/25 mags from RRAGES for Cali rules). I think my M&P15 is going to take a backseat for awhile. Also uploaded the rest of the family, Sig P229 and Sig Mosquito.

Everything about the gun is awesome. It took me all of two magazines to sight the thing. I had a fte but that was it, and after the gun was dirty. 500 rounds and I'm a happy camper

You put an Aimpoint and a SOPMOD on an M&P15-22? I am jealous of your finances friend. Nice rifle.

Part 2 - Updated with new stuff.

I love this little rifle! Great for training and my kids love to shoot this thing!

This .22 has been quite reliable and is dead on accurate.

Just freed a S&W MP 15-22 earlier today. I'm very pleased with it because of the AR-15 like controls. That won me over from the Walther/Colt M4 .22 despite its metal receiver. No FTF's, OOB's, stove pipes etc. in its first 400 rounds. I used CCI mini mags. Will post pics soon.

Saw this at Big 5. Almost pulled the trigger but then I realized that I'm still paying for my last gun purchase.

Yeah, but this is a steal at $459.99 out the door with the 20% off coupon, how can you pass this up!! lol...who needs food and shelter when you have this badboy! Live off the land! lol

They are selling them like hotcakes to, they are getting hard to find, Turners is out, and allot of the Big 5 stores are out of them.

@ Deebix...that looks nice! Where did you get that sling? I like it.

ALSO, do these rifles have mil-spec buttstocks or commercial? I am guessing Mil-spec seeing it is a M&P.
How hard it is to change out the pistol grip and buttstock?
I have been wanting to do it in my 5.56 AR, but am not 100% shure how to go about changing the buttstock...and DIY threads on this?

The stock tube seems to be mil-spec. But be advised, its a 1 piece deal that's molded onto the lower receiver and won't come off like a real AR. But it works and its pretty solid. An aftermarket pistol grip is very easy to install. A lot of AR accesories can fit on these. Here's mine, will post updated pic later:

Argh! Would've waited if I knew. Wish the pistol version was out now for this. By the way, tried Remington's in mine to experiment, 100 rounds. I normally use CCI mini mags. There was a lot of smoke that came out of the ejection port every time, the rifle shot really lightly-almost like with subsonic .22's and a suppressor. CCI is the way to go. Will try some Federal bulk pack if I ever find any.

Regular price is $499.99...but with the coupon it's $399.99...then tax and DROS came to $459.99 total price. Use the coupon, go buy one!

Love this thing. Lots more fun that my old 10-22. Put about 100 down the pipe with cheap ammo. No failures at all. Also put a magpul MOE buttstock on and a black egro grip.
