Cool SACRAMENTO C3 MONTHLY SHOOT - Sunday January 27th

Sunday 1/27 at Sacramento Valley Shooting Center – Rifle Ranges @ 10:00 a.m. (Range closes at 4 p.m).

Please wear your Calguns gear, we are here to represent!

Check this place out - lots for the public to do and even more if you are a member! http://sacvalley.org/images/range_map_large.jpg

JANUARY 27 IS GOING TO BE MORE OF AN INFORMAL SHOOT. BONNIE WILL BE THE ONLY C3 AT THE SHOOT, SO THERE WILL BE NO CHECK IN AT THE GAZEBO. BE SURE TO WEAR YOUR CALGUNS GEAR, SO OTHER CALGUNNERS CAN FIND YOU. LOOK FOR BONNIE ON THE RIFLE RANGE, WITH THE ORANGE CGN HAT, IF YOU CAN'T FIND THE OTHERS.

WHAT: The shoot will follow the informal order of "Meet, Shoot, Eat". The "eat" portion this event will have to be snacks that you bring to keep your tummy calm until you get a real meal in you. I will be here all day trying to get as much range time in as possible.

We’ll have some handouts, some stickers and other goodies for sale.

HOW MUCH: Rifle and Pistol range fees, all day, $ 3 for members, $14 for non-members

WHERE: Please, sign in with the C3s first. We’ll be at the picnic tables between the office and the pond. This is where you will check in and receive a name tag so we can all identify each other and put a face to the screen name.

Once you’ve checked in with us, for handguns or for rifles, go to the Range Office and sign in. Fees are for the full day, you’ll be given a wristband. There are no reservations. There is usually good availability at 9 am sharp.

When you get on the range, look for the CalGuns Banner or one of the C3s in the bright orange hats and Calguns shirt. We will try making ourselves as visible as possible. If you see a Calguns logo stop an say hi, we all seem to be friendly people!

WHAT IF IT RAINS? : Generally, rain or shine. But subscribe to this thread and check it before you load your guns and go.

Sacramento Valley Shooting Center http://www.sacvalley.org/
15501 Meiss Road,
Sloughhouse, CA 95683 Phone; 916-354-96683
NOTE: The Center is located approximately 15 miles Southeast of the city of Sacramento. Do not use car based GPS or Internet/electronic maps for directions to the range as they often have you entering from Dillard Road. Meiss from Dillard is an unpaved, nearly impassible rock road. Use Ione Road to approach Meiss Road.

Competition
No formal competitions this time, just fun. Tell us what kind of competitions you’d like and we’ll try to make it happen in future.

Guns Allowed At range:
Handguns - common handgun calibers up to 50 yards!
Rifles - up to 300 yards for the public!
Shotguns – HD shotguns are allowed in the area in front of the Range Office. Coordinate with the staff and they will give you an older target stand to destroy. (Trap/Skeet/Clays are not at this range.)

Safety: There are cease fires every 15 minutes. Eye and hearing protection are mandatory for anyone on the range. Please be aware that all firearms on the public range MUST use an empty chamber indicator during cease fire periods. Bring your own or buy one at the office for a nominal fee.

Reminder: - When you're there, your actions represent the entire Calguns community. We should always take responsibility for our actions, and treat their facility with the utmost respect.

Hope to see you there!
Tim

Great, we appreciate the help!! The more people we have directing traffic the easier things go.

A few of you found out that wearing a T-shirt and hanging out is what volunteering consists of at these get-togethers. (Thanks again to anyone who helped out @ the December shoot!) It seems simple but it really did take a huge weight off of our shoulders and made the running back & forth very minimal.

We will work on planning another Starbucks type get together to see who is interested in helping, maybe the middle of January after Christmas.

Darn, Sundays are the worst day for me. Most likely won't be able to make this one.

Hey, if hanging out and talking helped, then that's all good!

Please note that the January MS is on a SUNDAY, at the request of members who have obligations on Saturdays. We'll be scheduling them back and forth occasionally to accommodate people's schedules.

Sorry to hear that, like Bonnie said we are trying to rotate the Saturday/Sunday crowds to accommodate different schedules. There are a handful of folks who haven't got to come out because they work Sundays.

I am sure there will be a few shoots that pop up before Jan 27th, hopefully we can get you out to one of those. Example - there is a night time trap shoot on Dec 13th that I am going to miss but it sounds like a lot of fun. There are always people going to The Gun Range off of Watt Ave.

I am sure we will see you sooner than you think.

Tim

Yea, hopefully it's only the end of the Mayan Calender and nothing else.

I requested the 27th off today. I'd like to help again this next time around as well (and at any Sac Valley shoot I make it to).

Hey all,
This is going to be more of an informal shoot this time, I have had a few major things going right now including moving so I won't even be able to attend.

Bonnie is still planning on being here and shooting but there will be no check in at the gazebo. Wear your Calguns gear and find each other, remember Bonnie is in the orange hat if all else fails.

For the Monthly Shoot, it's generally rain or shine. If you subscribe to the Monthly Shoot thread, you'll get an email on updates.

Since the January 27 shoot is casual, with no planned activities other than shooting together, come and go as you like.

What is the general attendance for the range on a typical Sunday? I was planning to take my two kids and my wife to sight in the 22's and have some fun plinking but if it is too crowded, we might not make the trip, coming from Lincoln area. I am a member of the range but normally go first thing in the morning on a weekday. I think that it is too late to make a reservation plus I am not sure what time we would get there. The calander look kinda full, again, not sure since I really only go on the weekdays. I could be wrong.
Thanks, and I hope to see myself there with the family.

There are no reservations at Sac Valley, so we can't help you there. It is so big, a hundred people could probably shoot there at the same time, no problem, if they spread out over all the ranges.

My experience on weekends is, if you get there by 9:30 or 10, its fine. It starts to fill up by 11. But the 100 yard range, where you could sight-in rifles will probably have empty benches, there are so many.

Hope to see you in the morning.

I don't see anyone at the benches, but I'm on lane L wearing a black thundercats shirt if you want to stop by and say hi.

Several of us met up at Sac Valley today, and had a great time on a beautiful day. Pell was shooting so hot! Cindy too! Lotsa sighting of rifles going on.

If you were there and didn't find the group on the rifle range let me know and we'll try harder to set a meet-up point next time.

My darling little daughter didn't want to go to sleep until 4AM, so needless to say, I wasn't up at 8AM to go to the range. Next time!

Sounded like fun. I'm new to the group and normally shoot by myself but will try to make the next go around up there.

Monthly shoots are the last weekend of the month, Sat or Sun. February date is TBD soon.
