Any thoughts on those safes? I'm looking for a safe. Either the smallest or second smallest will fit in the area I have planned.

Thanks for the info, Nirrad!
It's quite a far drive for me, but I might as well hit up the beach while I'm down there..

$159 for the 12GA Maverick isn't bad. Normally the sale price is $199.

Anyone know which San Diego stores sell firearms?

Hopefully this is not too dumb of a question, but im not too familiar with rifles yet. On the remington website I saw two 700 varmint models, the sps and the varmint sf. Does anyone know which one is the sale model? Thanks

http://www.remington.com/en/product-...enterfire.aspx

It's an ADL Varmint. I had been wondering the same thing, and had to do a bit of digging to find out.

Thanks road! I'm sure it's been discussed before, but, in a nutshell, what's the difference between the adl and the sps and other 700 models?

Is the adl still as customizable as the others seem to be?

It seems like the real difference is the goofy camo stock (but both the SPS and the ADL models seem to have equally crappy stocks), and the fact that the ADL doesn't have a hinged floorplate. If you're intending to throw this action/barrel into another stock (and perhaps add a DBM setup), there's really no reason to favor one over the other.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

It appears that Huntington Beach is the only Dick's store in the general LA area that carries firearms. Bummer.

I've also confirmed that Huntington Beach is the only one in the OC area that sells firearms. The guy at the Ladera Ranch location tried to talk me into paintball guns The Remington 700 seems like a great deal. How long you think that lines going to be?

Well, it seems like San Diego, Ventura, or HB are the only options. Of those, HB is the closest to me, and it would still be about an hour's drive...for something that's not a sure thing, I don't think I'm going to try.

I'm thinking of picking up that 32 plus 6 safe at dicks here in bakersfield. For the price it seems good enough for my needs. I know it's not a 1200 liberty safe but it should be good enough since I have a home alarm also.

Just got back from Dicks HB - They do not stock the Stack-On Sentinel 48 gun safe, only the small stack on cabinets, and the field and stream 'safes'. I'm in the market for a safe, and to be honest, the field and stream safes are more like cabinets. They're not epoxy painted, and you can knock on them and they sound like knocking on a file cabinet. It's to be expected for a Black Friday safe. I was really hoping for the Stack-on sentinel 48 gun safe in the ad.

I called the Dick's in Huntington Beach. They only had a few different calibers. He said they had a .308 or two. Sounded like mostly .223s.

Lol, I called them too. The girl on the phone said "We have had quiet alot of people calling on the 700 tonight." haha

Wife shot me down. I won't be purchasing a 700. Hopefully still getting a big safe this year though.

Going to hope the rebate on the Remington 700 is a special deal with Dicks and not just a mis-print. If you go to the Remington current rebate page, it only lists a $40 mail in rebate for the 700.

I did it! Sale on 10/22s started today. Gun, dros, and tax $219 plus change out the door. Got the next to last one in San Luis Obispo.

Calibers for the Remington 700 include .223, .243, and 22/250 plus whatever they get in.

Thumbs down No firearms/Ammo sales at nearby Dicks stores. WTF?

How lame: Virtually all of the Dick's Sporting Goods stores in my area (Los Angeles/ Orange Co., do not carry firearms or ammunition, I just went to my local store which is approx. 2 miles away, but there are not guns or ammo.. It's a real shame, because they have some nice deals advertised in the Black Friday sale ad. Will have to settle for something at Big Jive or Turner's for this BF I suppose.
