Don’t worry, you have company. However, today, I did get an email saying that my apps were going to start being processed, and I would get a letter in the mail telling me my results.

That message for each gun pretty much means that they will be accepting your registration.
You don't get the notice that a letter will be in the mail if they still have questions/concerns with your registration.

I'm still waiting after responding back in Dec.

13 months since I volreg'd.

I guess this is as close I'll get to feeling what buying a suppressor feels like.

Those of us who registered guns as RAWs also still show "In Progress", but they said in some memo at some point that people pending registration was OK to take their guns out to the range. Honestly, just take it out to shoot and don't worry about what the site says so long as you went through the process.

1. Can I legally take my home built featureless rifles out to the range with their volreg statuses still pending?

2. Anyone else still in purgatory?
Why are you voluntarily registering an off-paper gun? I would never even remotely consider registering anything voluntarily. The state does not need to know. What advantage does this give you?

If I had an off-paper handgun and I wanted it for CCW, and I wanted it on the permit, that'd be the only way to get me to do it.

I don't understand people who would just go and register their stuff with the government just like that. Maybe I'm missing something, though.

I don't know how to answer this without sounding like a p*ssed off *sshole so I'm going to let someone else field this.

Maybe because it's required by law?
29180 (c) gives the remedy.

The ability to legally possess it in the state of CA.

That seems to be the case here.

So a law was passed making possession of unregistered firearms illegal?

The OP doesn't provide context.

Possession of unmarked and unregistered self-made firearms is illegal, regardless of when you made them.
There is no restriction on the possession of non-registered firearms that were made by licensed manufacturers and obtained through legal means.

I just pulled up my CFARS. It does still say "In Progress"

But I have a hardcopy letter from Javier Becerra saying I have a BBRAW.

Why are they so hung up on listing a specific caliber rather than MULTI?

If I later change the caliber, did I just build a new "unregistered" rifle? Do I have to notify them? Sneaky bastards!

I see. I misunderstood what he meant by home build. I took that to mean an assembly of a rifle from parts. Makes more sense. I was concerned that I had missed something, or otherwise wondering why someone would register a build (since some folks do seem to like to vol reg stuff around here for no apparent reason). Although even if I had such a rifle made using an 80% lower I finished, I think I know what action I'd take here.

No, you donít do anything but build your rifle.

Fill out the form in black pen only.
Blue pen is not acceptable.

Never getting caught breaking the law is the best solution.

If you had such a rifle that was causing you to be breaking the law, just don't get caught with it.
Don't take it out of your home.
Don't allow the police in your home.
Certainly don't allow the police in your safe.

People that might want to actually use their rifle outside of their home might find that complying with the law is safer than breaking the law.
