Default Ruger American or Savage 111?

Which rifle would you buy if given these three as your choices? All will be chambered in .270

Ruger American, Savage 111 trophy hunter XP or Savage 111 FCNS....I realize the trophy hunter comes with a Nikon scope, so to keep it even just count on putting a similar scope on the other two.

How much difference does the accustock make on the 111 FCNS?

The Savage is a great rifle, the Ruger American is a new entry level variation with an unproven track record. It is not an old school Ruger it's made of all new parts, I predict it will fall short of acceptance kind of like the T/C Venture.

the package rifle scopes are usually garbage. depending on how your using the rifle, you will want to buy a quality scope. hence why I am going with the 111 FCNS. i dont want to pay for the junk scope since i wont use it.

Im not an expert on the AccuStock, I like the concept, and have heard great things.

The Remington 700, and Tikkas will be recommended im sure. I prefer Savage.

I am leaning towards the Savage 111 FCNS also but the Ruger American gets some really good reviews.

Most people are paid to review items..... Do you ever plan to upgrade? maybe a new stock, detachable mag, trigger... well there are no upgrades for the Ruger American.. Dont get me wrong Ruger makes fine firearms I'm just saying it is a brand new product and stuff happens.

Handle the Marlin X7 before buying a Savage. Yes, Remlin stole some of Savage's design, but I think they did it better. The Marlin action just feels a lot smoother to me and accuracy should be just as good.

I've never held the Ruger and the people I have heard recommend them are doing so on name only. I think it's too early to say how good they may be.

Get the Savage Trophy hunter xp. It's an awesome rifle for the money. You can usually find them on sale for less than $500. It comes with a Nikon Prostaff scope which is the best scope i have seen on any package gun. And also comes the adjustable Accutrigger which is great. I just bought my wife the exact one in .270 and she loves it. She easily shoots MOA with it.
