Default Game meat wanted

I would like to purchase a combo pack of different game meats in either hamburger or steaks. My son is very interested in trying these, but they are outrageously priced on the internet. Any ideas where I can get some reasonably priced?

Most rounds for a rifle sell for about $1.

Seriously though, cabelas is pretty reasonable with a good selection. I'm sure there are others but not sure how reliable they are.

My son's tags cost me $280 and he only got a single buck which dressed out @ 130lb. Of the 130lb I figure we might've gotten 10lb of meat from it.

So at $28 per pound plus the transportation costs, I figure the cost would be be upwards of $35 - $40 / lb.

Are you sure you wouldn't rather enjoy the harvest of your own game??

Cabelas has a sale right now I think on meats. Otherwise try a local butcher. As far as hunting, well if I was living off the deer I killed I'd be dead.

If you have any local non-big chain grocery stores, ask them. There's a Big Johns here in town and they'll order you everything from alligator to conch!

Hey ROSS find a new butcher should have been 30-35% of dressed weight in processed deer. Unless it was a skinny starved anorexic deer. (LOL)

Remember it is not legal to sell/trade/barter game meat which is taken by sport hunting.

This only applies to game animals taken in this state. Other states may have the same limitations but not all. In Colorado butchers will keep elk hide and sell it to who ever wants it.

If you're by a Fuddrucker, http://www.fuddruckers.com/, they sell different kinds of burgers, from buffalo to elk to wild boar ready to be served.

Most all of this meat is domestically reared and grain fed.

http://www.flaminggrillcafe.com/specialty-burgers/

In Sacramento, wild meat choices varies, menu currently states "Wagyu, Antelope, Elk, Gator, Wild Boar, Camel, Llama, and Ostrich. ".

They tend to over cook the burgers IMHO.. but I like mine med rare.

Dittmers meats in Mountain View often has a pretty good selection. I'd call ahead though before driving into the bay from Tracy.

Roseville Meat company in downtown Roseville sells all sorts of wild meats but they are probably farm raised animals in case that matters.

I work in Fremont. If you are interested I can provide you with a good sampling of meat; Antelope, Elk, Caribou, and possibly some Moose, although that is getting low. I have both steak and Hamburger. Send me a PM if interested. We can meet during the day. Just bring a cooler. All the meat was taken in the wild.

If you were in Riverside I'd share some with you to try. I have Deer (whitetail & Mulely) Elk, and Wild pig. I also have frog legs and dove in the freezer.
Been a pretty productive hunting season thus far.

You cannot sell sport caught game or fish in this state that you took in another state. If that species is availble for take in this state. dfg code section 3039
