Question Assaulted Documentary T-Shirt Is Terrible...

Don't actually care all that much of course but I just received my T-shirt for donating to the Assaulted Documentary, it's got a CA flag looking bear on it with a big nasty cigarette hanging out of its mouth with an odd looking blindfold over its eyes...?

It just looks odd as all hell and would only gain odd looks from people and would be in need of explaining...

You mean the same one that is shown in the OP prior to your donation? If you didn't want it you could have checked the box that said you didn't need or want the shirt and let the production keep the money for making you that shirt.

Did you do it for the shirt or to donate to get gun rights back?

I see the odd looks and explaining as an opportunity to help get the word out, help sway people to the correct side.

What size is it? I'll take it.

Please feel free to send it to me. I'll auction it off and donate the proceeds to further expenses for the film.

After Orals at the Ninth, today, I had the honor of watching Kris and Anita interview Alan Gura, Alan Gottlieb and Gene Hoffman. This is an amazingly professional crew with real knowledge f the subject matter, the parties involved and the ground we're fighting on.

Big thanks to both of them.

Wearing my shirt today at work (I am an engineer at a tech company in silicon valley with no dress code) and have already had some interesting conversations.

All positive so far!

I love this design!

It was a tradition to offered the condemned a cigarette and a blindfold before execution by firing squad. In the graphic on our shirts, the bear represents our civil right about to be shot.

There is a second analogy in the graphic. Can you see it?

Kudos to Michael for the awesome design!

Thank you JD for the kind words. It was great watching you work yesterday, too.

Does it show my age that I first remember this analogy from Bugs Bunny cartoons?

meh...

It's hard to tell with judges. There's another thread that details this in 2A.

It's about an hour before we go wheels up on our last big road trip for the production. We're heading to Colorado, Louisiana, Florida, and (if our government employees can find time in their day to answer a few questions from the people,) Washington, DC. The hope is by the conclusion of this trip we will have 95% of the footage and interviews we need in "the can" to start editing the film.

This is a significant point in the production when we move from filming to editing and the documentary goes from simply an idea on paper to reality on the editor. It also represents new levels of commitments and expenses - the world of hard external costs. No longer is it salaries for Anita and I, payroll taxes, travel expenses, attorneys, health insurance and swag for the donors, but hard third party costs; music and footage licensing fees, editor and co-writer fees, more attorney fees and more insurance.

We will be launching a second Kickstarter campaign to cover these expenses at the end of January. In the meantime, we want to offer you a chance to get a tax deductible donation in before the end of the year.

Corporations and individuals can make a donation to the film before Dec 31st, through our PBS presenting station, Southern Oregon Public Television, and receive the needed paperwork for your 2012 taxes. This is a great way to get a write-off while supporting the film. Send me a PM if you're interested in making such a donation. You can also make a donation through our website, www.AssaultedFilm.com , if you don't need a write-off and just want to help out.

Now that 7th District has ruled to support the intent of the 2nd Amendment, help us educate those that don't understand the importance of this right in their lives.

Best holiday wishes to all,

Kris

If you want to compare semi-automatic to a fully-automatic where would you go? Colorado.

We took the 18-hour drive from Chico to Denver to visit Alan Samuels at MachineGunTours.com . I recommend everyone take the trip and enjoy the freedom of colorful Colorado.

I heard that Colorado's going to take a shot at an Assault Weapons Ban, is that going to be covered in the film? Are you going to discuss the ratio of pro gun to anti gun supporters in America? Just to give us a perspective of how strong our side is?

We haven't spoken to anyone here about a possible ban but CO is very pro-gun from what we've experience. Gun stores filled with ARs, AKs and NFA items with lines of folks buying them.

Yes, the film with show that the majority of Americans support the 2nd and gun ownership.

It was a great honor to help out Kris!

lol, regarding the thought it could have been a joint.

I think it should be what ever the condemned person wants and, though I've actually never smoked anything, I support the right of the individual to smoke what ever they want as long as it doesn't infringe in my right to enjoy smoke free air.

The point would be that the government has no business dictating to a free people how they may enjoy their God given rights.

In fact, the government is the entity that is restricted regarding their activity in such matters but it seems the world is upside down these days.

Will the recent shootings in Clackamas and Connecticut be addressed somehow in the doc?

Dianne Feinstein said today she will be introducing the AWB immediately. They all seem to think it will pass. Saying that it will be illegal to posses. So they want everyone to hand them over....I don't think this is going to turn out well.

The plan was to start a second Kickstarter campaign to raise the required finishing funds after we cut a few scenes together next month, but the current events requires us to reconsider our schedule.

If everyone here that donated to our first campaign could donate through our website ( www.AssaultedFilm.com ) we could move up our schedule by sixty days!

$50k to get it to broadcast review. It's a lot, but my last PBS special budget was $1 million. We got a great team that are all "donating" time and effort to make this film happen but there are still hard costs to make this film happen.
