Default LDF 5th Saturday ALL STEEL MATCH December 29th at PALA!

Time Again for Linea de Fuego's Fifth Saturday San Diego New Years Eve ALL STEEL MATCH!
Pistol shooters, shotgun shooters, .22 shooters - come join us this Saturday, December 29th, for an all steel USPSA-style match.
This is a great match for shooters in any of the competitive disciplines - USPSA, IDPA, Police, Cowboy, etc.
We allow .22s (pistol and rifle) for this match so bring the kids or a new shooter along.

The match consists of a minimum of six USPSA style stages using only steel targets and the usual USPSA props (barricades, barrels, ports, etc.). If it's made of steel we shoot it - pepper poppers, round and square plates, movers, swingers, plate racks, Texas stars, and more. Round count is typically around 150, but bring plenty of ammo as steel is unforgiving. We recognize all USPSA pistol divisions, as well as both .22 pistol or rifle and shotgun (sorry, no magnums or .223).

Because of the large turnout (100+ shooters) we will start registration and squadding at 7:30 AM.
Shooter's Meeting at 7:50 and First Shots Down Range at 8 AM.
Match fee is $35 for the general public and $25 for LdF members.

We have a vendor who will have food and drink available for purchase at the range.
Your support of the food vendor will help ensure that they continue to return for future matches.
If you're not planning to purchase food or drink you should bring something to drink as there is no running water at the range.

Match info:

http://lineadefuego.info/matches/index.php

Directions to the range:

http://lineadefuego.info/matches/ncsa.php

New shooter info:

http://lineadefuego.info/matches/new_shooters.php

Bring at least 4-5 magazines, & holster if you have them, if not you may be able to use one of the
other shooters magazines, or someone in your squad will reload the empty ones and hand them back
to you while you’re shooting.

Please NO Shotgun Slugs (Birdshot only)
NO Magnum Pistol Calibers
NO Rifle Caliber Pistols (.223 etc.)

I'll be visiting the folks in the area, and will be there (with a shotgun).

Yes you can bring both and pay twice for two entries; be sure to sign twice on the squad sheet so the squad numbers balance out. Offer to shoot first and have your second entry placed 4 or 5 down so you have time to set up.

larry, what do you recommend i do with my rifle while im setting targets and such and not shooting it? just bag it? leave it on a table with it open and flagged?

i sure as heck don't wanna wear it on a sling all day.

Proper protocol is to unbag it facing the berm when you reach a stage, lay it down pointed into the berm with a chamber flag showing until it's your turn - then your choice to bag it right after or let it cool off pointed into the berm with chamber flag showing.
See you there!

Did this match about 2 yrs ago and walked out at about 3pm with 2 more stages to go. Has it got any better or is it still supper slow with people shooting several divisions and not helping to setup?

What has been done to streamline the match? How many squads?

Today was a good match. Squads were not too large and we all moved in order. There were 7 stages and each was limited to 20 rounds with a time limit of 180 seconds. I think next time the limit could be lowered to 120 seconds with the same round count and add an extra stage.

Overall today was good.

I finished today's match at 1:30 (7 stages). It ran much smoother than it has in the past.

I thought today's went better than the last one. I was very happy with it. I was a two division shooter and everything went great but for the person running my often did not hold the timer close enough to pick up my 22lr carbine accurately. I shot every stage twice if not three times with my 22. Thankfully my squadmates were understanding.

I was very happy with the stage designs today as well. And my squad was totally finished before the first drop of rain fell.

Only once did a squad roll up on our bay, trying to hop around out of order to be faster. We sent them packing.

I will go back to this and had a good enough time it erased any annoyance from previous ones.

Again, very happy with today and had a great time.
