I would actually NOT recommend kickstarter, they knock down any gun related products being pushed on their site (since the 2a movie is a movie and not a gun product it would get let through). I tried getting my camera mount on there and they rejected it specifically because it was a gun related product. Indiegogo was a bust for me, but I would throw money at datamancer's project if it got picked up.

Got this email today:

"Hi folks, I want to thank you all for your continued enthusiasm and support of this project.

The mags aren't available just yet, but they are being worked-on.

In the meantime, I have set up a new website for them and am separating the project from my old www.datamancer.net website. Unfortunately as part of this separation, THIS MAILING LIST WILL BE DELETED very soon, and if you would like to continue to receive updates on the project YOU WILL NEED TO SIGN UP TO THE NEW MAILING LIST at www.MosinMags.com.

I apologize for the inconvenience. To make the transition easier, I will also try to manually add everyone's email address to the new list, so if you receive a verification request from mosinmags.com, please click the link in the email to allow your email address to be added.

Thanks and have a great day!

-Richard R. Nagy"

Its probably better if the mag comes out after this political BS subsides

If SwineFien sees this she'll soil her bloomers and put this on her list.

Looks like someone will be producing a Mosin Stock with a 10 and 5 round Magazine option.

From the thread in a Canadian Gun Forum:

"As the Canadian Promag importers we have been given the OK to release the new Archangel stock kits for the SKS & Mosins before the Shotshow debut!! These are the usual top quality kits we have come to expect from Promag. These photos are prototype pics only & the finals will have some alterations, but you get the idea. The Mosin comes with a detachable 5 rd mag, with 10 rd mags available. The SKS will use any mag, not included, but we will be bringing some in. Pricing is not set yet. Let us know what you think!"

Copywrite infringement? Or maybe Doc sold the idea?

I have to wonder how close this is to his design.

I'll copy my response from another recent post about this stock...

This one is a much cooler design than mine. It's funny, though, I almost made this exact rifle except with a 10/20'ed Lahti-Saloranta mag and a custom stock I started molding in aluminum from a plastic airsoft "super-duper-mega-awesome tactical black ops sniper rifle of death", but the ergonomics were way off on the toy and I never got around to reworking everything.

This was an inevitable invention considering the popularity of the Mosin. Even if I had the time to devote to mine and brought it to market, this thing would have probably come out soon afterward anyway and crushed it, and it's different enough from my design where the patent would have been useless. I'm kind of glad I didn't waste the time, actually. Big props to the designer. It's a clever mod. I'll be getting one, for sure.

The concept is cool, though I wish they offered it in a more "traditional" stock without all the adjustment features on the back.

Also, while you can still load with stripper clips, the clip that hold the bullets in the mag when detached from the magazine seems like a week point. I guess if you don't plan on taking the mag out it wouldn't make much of a difference if it broke.

It'll be interesting to see how it performs.

Slow down there fella! We don't wanna spend no 200 freaking dollars to use that mag! We want your metal or Someone's metal mag we can put into our non modified rifle. After all I've learned about you from this mag and your websites I must say I feel fooled by you. This isn't what I want. There's people above who offered $ take some of something and get it done instead of Nothing of nothing. I always scratch my head at people who want all or nothing.

Personally I'd be happy with a polymer one. Think it would certainly be easier to manufacture and bring down costs.

I'll be posting a message on the mailing list later today probably. I have had to begrudgingly admit that I simply don't have the time and bandwidth to produce them myself right now, with everything going on at my day job, but I'll be interviewing any interested companies that might want to take the idea and run with it, with my guidance and engineering input.

How's that? They'll still be made, I'll just be "licensing" the design to another company rather than building them myself.

I think the appropriate response would have been, "God bless you sir, finally, thank you for attempting to move this project on to it's next phase". Or something to that effect, not that I have been that shy about my own feelings regarding this project and it's delay.

The Archangel mod is cool, but I have several Mosins, and there's no way I'm shelling out $200 per. I'm not thrilled with having to use a magazine in that case, when I might want to simply use the 5-round internal mag. Plus, it would feel weird to spend 3X as much for the stock as the entire gun cost me!

No, 'mancer, I definitely hope you continue on your version of a detachable mag. I'd be surprised to see a patent challenge from Archangel, since you posted your rough prototype on 8-15-2010. A polymer one, as Bellts mentioned, would also be cool, especially when you consider the possibility of "printing" them with a 3-D printer.

No, sir, I've been following this from the beginning, and I will buy (at least) one of yours when they're available, whoever ends up manufacturing them.

I'd much prefer to use Datamancer's and a $92 Boyd's Classic Stock (or similar). I picked up an unfinished stock in walnut, no butt-pad, for a nice discount. Not only are wooden riflestocks beautiful, they're also functional and do very well with glass bedding.

No, I've actually been talking to a well-known company about it for a while now. They've looked it over and are developing a prototype of their own, but have been distracted with another project of theirs for a little while. They've given the verbal thumbs-up already, but we still need to talk some numbers and sign some papers. Things are moving along, albeit slowly.

Wonder if there's a problem with interrupter function. No way the stock interrupter can hold a round down under the spring pressure of a 10 round mag.

This is not necessarily correct.
