Default RUST

i am VERY fussy about taking good care of my C&R rifles. i keep them in a gun cabinet in my house. i take them out and lightly rub a oily rag over all metal parts. i think i still see light surface rust on some metal parts no matter what i do. it might already be their but i doubt it. hard to believe i need a dehumidifier in SO CAL in my carpeted closet that is between 68-75 Deg year round in the inland empire far from the ocean.
will silica Christal cat liter in a nylon stocking work as good or better than other mechanical devises ?
