There are currently 5 different "funky style grips" available:
U15 (hard to find, but awesome for precision builds)
Monsterman
Hammerhead
Grip Wraps (Solar Tactical)
and Thordsen Customs new stock that isn't shipping yet.

Surely one of those might be interesting?

If not you can always look at any of the many rifles that were made before pistol grips became popular.

What's the story with the U15? For such a polished product, why is it no longer being produced?

the mini 14 is a great gun for plinking.

it won't be that awesome for paper target shooting, but it will be just as good as any AK would be, and IMO slightly more accurate.

but flow blowing s**t up, the mini-14 is definitely in its element.

is there info on the Thordson Customs stock somewhere?... I briefly saw it mentioned somewhere but didn't take much notice - now that's it's been brought up again, I'd like to look into it.

Thanks

*Edit: nevermind... a quick search revealed this: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=650750 - looks interesting.

Mini 14 and Mini 30? Pizz on them girly guns (unless you are a girl, then no offense meant) and git your self a real man's gun -

Not necessarily in order of desirability, just what seems to be out there for sale and/or what it costs.

1. The currently available and popular C&R Chinese SKS

2. Russian SKS

3. Any other Chinese SKS

4. Romanian SKS

5. Yugo SKS - especially an original M59 without that silly and problematic gas valve.

6. M1 carbine - small cartridge but real military with lots of history and lots of accessories and goodies.

7. SVT 40 Not the cheapest or easiest to find, but 7.62x54r and way cheaper and more available than a Dragunov.

8. FN-49. Available in a lot of calibers including .30-06

9. Other old semi-autos like Hakims, Swede Ljungmans, etc.

10. M1 Garand. No detachable mag, but available, affordable, and shoots .30-06. Historic as hell too, with a combat history that spans several major wars and a number of smaller ones around the world.

No idea about the MR1. Haven't seen it being sold anywhere and I haven't looked to far into having one shipped. Most places online seem to have it sold out right now too.

Unless you owned those magazines prior to 2000, you won't be doing the above (in bold) legally unless they belong to a friend who is there shooting with you.

your verb-age implies that use of magazines in excess of 10rds is illegal. Care to clarify your post?

That Thordsen FRS-15 looks like a real winner. Seems to deliver what I had hoped the Hammerhead would have.
