Default Engineering Internship Wanted

Hey guys. I am currently an Mechanical/Manufacturing student at Cal Poly Pomona. I am currently seeking an internship to gain experience while I am in school. Boeing, Lockhead Martin, General Dynamics, and JPL are my dream jobs, but right now I will take anything. Thanks!

Try some of the smaller manufacturers...K&N, Spectre, etc. I think the engineer that does the kits at Spectre is a Cal Poly Alum.

My first few internships were at the university doing undergrad research for professors. I know that's not real world stuff, but it exposes you to machinery and equipment you won't encounter in normal classes.

Email a professor in your department to see if they have anything available.

Also, learn AutoCAD. A bunch of my friends were turned down several internships b/c they didn't know autoCAD, and it's not offered as a course at my university. Luckily, there were some internships that were willing to teach AutoCAD to their interns. After I graduate, I'll have to go to a community college and take an auntoCAD course as proof that I can do autoCAD even though I am teaching myself at the moment.

Have you thought about the HVAC side of things? I'm a mechanical engineer and design air systems for large commercial buildings. HVAC's not as sexy as other trades, but everyone needs air conditioning.

If you're interested in HVAC, check out your local ASHRAE chapter. PM me and I'll help you get in touch with the right person in your local ASHRAE chapter. If you're looking for something in the Sacramento area I could see what I can do to help.

Get involved with the FSAE and/or Mini Baja teams. Their sponsors often offer jobs to those guys.

My company (Parker Haniifin) hires a lot of engineering students for internship. I'm not sure what the process is because I'm on the contracts side.

I'll see if I can get you some info
