Default buying my 1st gun

hi im new to the forum and didnt know were or if im in the correct place to ask this question. Back like 13 years ago when i was 17yrs old i commited a felony in which my case stayed in juvenile court i completed my sentence paid fines off etc. Around 2003 i tried buying a shotgun from big5 at the time i was about 23 i went through the whole process finger prints etc and days later i get a call that they are not able to release firearm. I go back they gave me a paper to call with any questions i may have so i did and they told me i was restricted until the age of 30 which i have already reached. So i call the doj and they said i can go reapply and the restriction has been lifted now what my real concern is driving record. On my driving record I only have been cited for 2 speeding violations, 1 for no seat belt, and 1 for distance between vehicles( commercial vehicle). the 1st speeding violation was back around 2000-2001, 2nd speeding violation was around 2007, no seat belt 2007, distance between vehicles 2010 that is pretty much and i would like to know if any of these violations can make it difficult to buy a firearm. I have not been arrested since i was released from the juvenile center no DUI i just been on my best behavoir so can some one please let me know if there might be a problem... oh and sorry for the poor grammer i am using a slider phone to access the internet... thanks inadvance

Speeding tickets mean nothing.

My understanding, which may be incorrect, is that prior traffic infractions are an issue in the DROS process only if you have outstanding unpaid tickets or something.

I had felonies as a minor and was prohibited from owning a gun til I turned 30 just like you were. Ive been buying guns since I was 18 though, and yes legally through FFL's. The 30 yr thing never came up until 2 weeks before my 30th birthday. I had purchased a handgun and was waiting my 10 days when I got a delayed notice. I had to wait the 2 weeks for my 30th b-day then start over my 10 days afterward. So I think you would not have a problem as long as you are 30 now and have a clean record. I also have my ccw with all that on my record. Just my experience.

If you are really concerned, you can do a dry run/self check with the Personal Firearms Eligibility Check Application; will cost you $20 plus notary fee.
