Default AK Barrel

I just got my Bulgy AK 74 parts kit and chrome lined barrel. However, I can put the barrel in the trunnion without any tools; if fact, a 3 year old could do it, it just slides in. Is this a problem?

Where did you get the kit and barrel? How about a pic of the trunnion showing the arsenal marks? I'm thinking it's a 23mm trunnion and he's got a 22mm barrel.

I can't get a pic until tomorrow, but it's Circle 10 (then two digits I don't remember) 1962.

Not that interested in the trunnion markings on the side (circle 10 is Bulgarian BTW. The 2 digits you don't remember refer to the year of production for Bulgarian rifles, and the '1962' is the serial which if matching numbers kit should appear on the bolt, carrier, top cover, etc).
More interested in the stamp number on the top of the trunnion. My guess is it's a 4.

Regardless I'm with kcstott.
Send it back. Too loose for even a knurl.

That is very dangerous, dont even attempt to continue, it is suppose to be a press fit for a good reason.

The trunnion does indeed have a "4" on it. Does this mean I'll have to replace it, or do they make barrels of the proper fit?

Dang I thought those only showed up in Krink kits. Since this was such an issue with the Tula Krinks from R-Guns there have been short barrels made oversized in the trunnion journal but no long barrels to my knowledge. In your case I'd return the kit for sure.

They (The Bulgarians) do make barrel that will fit a '4'.
I have not seen any full length US made barrels large enough, and only the Bluejack krink barrels for a short one.
Short of finding a #'4' stamped Bulgarian barrel I still recommend sending it back.

Mike told me that Curtis would be able to make a barrel that would fit. Is this a viable option? AK-builder seems to always be pretty busy...

If Curtis is cutting his own barrels then he could in fact create one with an over sized barrel journal to fit the #4 trunnion.
Easier option would be to switch the kit for one with a smaller trunnion.
