You can get a carry permit in your area Trooper. We have a harder time down here in some areas of Southern California. Look into it over at the CCW forum.

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

Good question. BLM has areas where it's ok and I think National Forests are ok. State parks NO. Private property away from residential ok. It's a crap shoot. Hard to tell if you are good or breaking the law. Someday you won't be able to carry a gun except to go to the range. Or no guns at all. Then only police and bad guys will have guns. OH MY........

Would it not require special circumstances to get one?

There is an unfair game here in Kalifornistan on who gets to have a carry permit.

Most States here in America are now 'Shall Issue' which means they recognize the RIGHT to self protection and you don't have to have a reason to apply and get a carry permit.

Not the case here however. While some Counties here in California are Shall issue, some other Counties (Around San Fran and LA) are 'May Issue'.

May issue means you must have a 'good cause' and a good cause letter that is approved by the Sheriff or Law Enforcement.

Check your County before applying. Get on the forums and learn what is required.

What COUNTY do you live in Trooper..?

Here is the FORUM you should read..

You just need to change your display thread setting from "last month" to "last 100 days" in order to see this one.

So what are the requirements for a license to carry and conceal? Are they two different permits or one in the same? The only reason I would want a conceal permit is to not freak out hikers and fishermen who may see a gun on me. I'm not into scaring people.
