At least you got a response....but I hate to burst your bubble. They have been saying that they've been working on March orders for months, they told me that when I talked to someone over the phone back in middle of June!

Agreed. I was just taken for a ride much earlier in the year from some advertising of way cheap 9mm... And at the time people were getting it. I held onto hope a little too long, and then my credit card company was going to make it a tough process since it was outside the window. BUT, I figured one little inquiry couldn't hurt (I had since written off my money and my ammo), so it's nice to see that there's still a chance to add to my ammo stash, someday.
At least they are claiming a date, and it's consistent. I think that's the time frame they started to crumble, when people starting rolling in huge numbers (I know some who ordered 5k, there may be some who did more). So if there's hundreds of thousands of back ordered 9mm from that date on, I understand. |

![]() Short story: I saw Tophog's post on 10/29 and oh58mech's post on 11/12 about contacting Vincent at JRA so I did so and now I'm good-to-go. Longer version: I received three of my four cases in mid July, then received a "Your order has been completed successfully" e-mail to which I responded "I received the other 3 cases in my order, but the last case shows a FedEx shipping status of "Initiated - shipment information sent to FedEx"". No response. Grrrrr. I didn't check in on CalGuns to see if there was any movement until Thanksgiving and saw the posts about contacting Vincent. Sent him an e-mail, gave him my tracking numbers, and he saw that the shipping label was created but the case wasn't shipped. Since we live in the same part of the Bay Area he offered to hand deliver to my door or meet someplace, or he would ship. So I met him today and picked up my last case. If you're still owed ammo I'd contact Vincent ASAP! He was very apologetic about the delay and prior lack of customer service. I was happy he made things right. So far I've shot probably 500 rounds of JRA .45 ACP without any firing problems, i.e. no duds, misfires or the like. I have had feeding problems with my Sig 1911 and new Chip McCormick 10 round Power Mag+ using this ammo, but I haven't tried with other brands. The round won't go into the chamber properly and the bullet ends up pushed further into the case. The 8-round factory mags and this ammo work great. Off to Google to see if this is some kind of known issue. 'Luck! |

Freedom munitions. Talked to a live person, even though half the site is out of stock they are pushing to get their ordered out 5-7 days regardless. Plus they have a brick and mortar now in texas. I got my JR order in 3 months, i actually forgot about it. then one day it showed up.

+1 for Freedom Munitions. I have placed orders for just the bullet components and they always ship in a few days. I have them "liked" on facebook and they do very well to let the customers know lead times and wait times if any are to be expected? If you didnt notice they also have a brass credit program where you can send in your fired brass and they will credit money to your purchase. Just another way to save a little cash if you order loaded ammo from them.

Three word, folks:
LEARN TO RELOAD. Your ammo availability problems will disappear.

Time and patience - neither of which I have enough of. "learning" to reload isn't an issue - it's not rocket science... many of us value the time and would rather pay (if that's not for you, no problem... but what works for you doesn't have to be preached to others). Having that been said - I wouldn't waste time ordering with JR... there are many other merchants without the recent problems.

I actually got off the phone with someone just yesterday- a very surprising unsolicited call. She offered an exchange for another type of ammo, a refund, or I could keep waiting. I might as well keep waiting with ammo prices the way the are these days, but obviously the brass shortage is nationwide now. It was nice to know someone still was tracking it and making an effort.
She mentioned the company was named after her grandson, and she's determined to get it turned around by the time he's old enough to work there. |

Amen to that. Interesting, I just made 800 rounds of 45acp in one hour of time on my 650XL. Didnt break a sweat, didn't have to waste gas driving around looking for ammo. Didnt have to come online asking others for help find ammo in stock. Didnt have to deal with inflated gun shop factory prices, and I made better shooting ammo for less money. The real deal is, I don't have the time to not reload. Last edited by chim-chim7; 01-28-2013 at 6:43 PM.. |

It's true, I think she said he was 3. But, it's the intent. It was just awesome to get a call out of the blue. I have hope and a good feeling that this is not a scheme and certainly not out of business. People want to make it right.

admirable - but I wouldn't be boasting about a goal to get things on track within 13-15 years... as a consumer, I'd be real concerned that they have that as a goal.

Well, Jack Ross finally made good on my order. Back at the end of March 2012, I order 2K rounds of 9mm reloads. I paid with a debit card on an account that I closed last year (stopped doing business with BofA due to their treatment of McMillan), so there was no chance of going back to dispute the charge.
I was watching a Nevada forum and some guy "vparker" says he's with Jack Ross and wanted to hear from folks by email if they had problems with their orders. We exchanged a few emails mid-November, and he said that they had an order with a local gun store near me which they were going to drive down personally, and would I like to pick up my ammo there at the store when they make the delivery. They would be making the trip down some time just after the 1st of the year. I said, sure why not, but didn't hold my breath. We'd all been promised the "two weeks", "two weeks" ad nauseum before so I figured I would see it if I see it. About three weeks ago, I actually get a phone call from someone at Jack Ross saying their production of 9mm is still suffering due to lack of components, but would I like to switch out for a comparable dollar amount of some other caliber, or switch to Sellier & Bellot 9mm (which again would mean fewer rounds). I explained that 9mm is what I'm running low on and cannot afford to replace the ammo I was never shipped. I had already been waiting 3/4 of a year, I might as well wait for what I ordered. Well, today I get a call from Chris himself, and he was on the other side of town with two full cases of 9mm. He said he'd be around for about an hour and would I like to drive over and pick them up. About 20 minutes and a drive across town later, I was in possession of the 2K rounds I bought. Since I was one of the lead instigators in getting the BBB involved, I thought I ought to post that Jack Ross did indeed fill the order as promised. While I didn't get anything extra for waiting, one could argue that the ammo I received today is worth about twice the dollar value I paid for it. So I'm going to call it a wash and let bygones be bygones. I hope this helps someone else who might be still hanging on out there hoping to get their order filled. Jack Ross is still in business, just keeping a lower profile for now. |

They suck and always will.
Avoid, avoid, avoid. There are plenty of great reloaders in CA who need our business. And yes, I was the guy who got 10 bad reloads out of 1k rounds. Most were .380 shells with 9mm crammed in them. (Kurz shells). . |

But yeah, you're right. Now I gotta get into casting! I have the melting pot, the molds and the lead, I just gotta find that last element ... time! And unfortunatley, the .40 S&W mold that I wanted is out of stock everywhere! (The .401-175-tc - .40 S&W 175 gn, truncated cone) ![]() So I'm bingo on .40...luckily, nobody likes .40 and I'm sure there are still some at Walmart! LOL! As for Jack Ross, it's too bad they screwed up, they would be making an absolute MINT right now if they had their act together for the panic, but instead, they are massive foo bar as components are in short supply/high demand and prices are up on components and they already pre-sold cheap rounds. I mean, assuming they mean to actually provide the product they sold and not just declare bankruptcy. Again, way too bad they screwed so many people over as they should be making money hand over fist right now. Karma, I guess. |

As someone who's involved in a part of the reloading supply chain, I can say I personally have been to the Jack Ross facility, and am in a position to know that the delays are caused by supplies that have been on order for ages, yet have not been to delivered to this business. Shops and clubs through out California have been screaming for supplies, but only a trickle is coming in. Plainly put, distributors can't distribute what they don't have. Be patient with JRA and other ammo suppliers. Hopefully the backlog will work itself out.

We have a problem with JRA because we were mislead, lied to and decieved due to a poor business model that took our money and allowed them to fill 99% of their orders with range ammo orders. They sound like they have some nice people there now trying to turn things around. That's a far cry from the old owner who lied, banned everyone on Facebook, refused to answer or return phone calls, or refund money without a credit card chargeback. |

Although I agree that currently there is a lack of supplies, this doesn't explain wtf Jack Ross has been doing for basically 2 years. As far as I know 2 years ago there wasn't a run on components. JR is just a poorly run business. Whether he's an active scammer of just a terrible businessman is debatable. What is sad is that people desperate for ammo nowadays will wonder onto his website and "buy ammo". Too bad JR f'ed up so badly, in the current climate, they could have made an absolute mint but lost pretty much all of their reputation through bad move after bad move. And the simplest thing they could have done was to be open about the delays and post on their website what is going on, but they didn't, they ran and hid. Too bad. |

I purchased ammo online from them for the first time. I submitted my order, then ended up seeing some reviews about them which were all really terrible, stating it was a scam and they didn't send anything just took your money, didn't answer their phones, etc. I did some more digging and found a letter someone posted that they had received from the business owner, apologizing for the delay and explaining they had gone through a really tough time with the massive amount of orders received, nearly having to close their business (when everyone and their mom was buying ammo around the time Napolitano bought out the whole ammo market). The letter included the cell number of the owner and assured delivery was forthcoming. Apparently Jack Ross dug out of their backorders, because they shipped my order the same day and I received it (across country) today - 3 days later. I'm very pleased with their service, and it seems they've turned things around. As long as the reloads fire ok, I'll be ordering from them again.

Didn't know about this issue until now, but recently ordered 500 .45 from them and they arrived in 3 days. Have not shot any of it though.
