Default Question for LE armorers or others in-the-know (research project)

How may rounds of ammunition does your department have ON HAND at any given moment, not counting what's on your belt or in the cruiser?

Of course I'll need to know how many sworn are serving in your department as well, unless you want to mention the name of your dept as well. If possible, I'd appreciate a breakdown by pistol, rifle and shotgun.

Please reply by PM if uncomfortable doing so openly. Strictest confidence will be upheld.

TIA

Carry on.

I already have an answer from a few qualified sources. I'd just like confirmation from as many sources as possible. It's not REALLY a secret, as such budgets and purchases are a matter of public record.

Then you should have no problem finding that information all on your own.

No problem ... the insular "us vs. them" attitude remains intact with some it seems. Thankfully not all.

The research project in question was partly one designed to show the need to increase training budgets and opportunities ... what was I thinking?

I thought the NYPD officers shooting more civilians than the suspect would have done that...

This is not an "us vs. them" attitude issue.

You are basically asking for an agency to reveal their abilty to engage and sustain engagement during incidents involving deadly force. While you may be considering the local criminal elements, all agencies also consider encounters on a larger scale involving an organized gang or a terrorist group. This capability is not really appropriate to reveal to the public.

Good luck on your project.

Zombie,

TASK, LLC makes sense. How is there an "us vs. them" attitude here.

And some people think the "good" cops give you a warning and "bad" cops cite you and/or arrest you.

What were you thinking? This site has been known to be downright hostile to LEO's at times (some members, not all), and we don't really know who you are. As Task mentioned, it's a little more complicated than we have our secrets and you can't have them.
