Well let's hope we beat it.

If not I am more than willing to purchase all of the ar pistols or rifles in ca that become illegal. I can purchase all of them in AZ on the same day and walk out with them all at once.

Just finished her up over the weekend. Rifle has been done for a while, but I stripped the panels, Surefire and AFG off of it.

Quentin 80%
CMMG LPK
Olympic 6.5" .556 Upper
Noveske KX3
Midwest Industries Midlength Rail
Magpul XT Panels & AFG
Surefire Scout M600C & SR07
BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle
Raddlock

May move the grip and light around once I get a chance to take her out.

Default Nice! Easy on the ammo huh?

I have a AR Pistol 223/5.56. I love the thing. It's a great machine once I got it tuned. But I like this. No tube and small cheap ammo for close range??? Nice! I like it. Is it barrel heavy? Mine has a 7 1/2" bull barrel and it's heavy. even with the buffer tube to counter balance it. I found a lighter barrel, but I'm not going to blow more $$ on this. It's basically a fun toy that shoots great.

Now I'm starting to get a few ideas about building a light weight animal after seeing this.

Thanks for the pic.

While that is a neat looking pistol, good luck holding it steady to aim with all that weight out there. I prefer a buffer tube with a foam cover to hold tight under my cheek bone. I can keep it on a 6" target at 100 yards all day long with my Eotech without magnifier.

As I have said before, when I build a gun, I think about what would make Dianne Feinstein soil her depends, then I build that.

The gas block isn't there but that's because it's currently holding the front sight in place on my Evil Space Gun MEGA billet side charger ~match rifle.

So now I really need to test fire my Evil Space Gun so that I can take off the gas block to get my pistol going.

Dianne better have toilet paper and a bunch of Purelle.

Just starting to put together a Spike's lower / RRA 7.5" upper FDE hybrid Franken-pistol:

The final configuration will be:
Spike's Tactical (blemished) Lower
RRA 7.5" A3 Upper w/RRA Free Float Quad Rail
Magpul FDE MOE+ Grip
Magpul MBUS Rear Flip Sight (Gen 2) FDE
Magpul MBUS Front Flip Sight (Gen 2) FDE
Exile Machine 6"L x 1.22"ID FDE Rubber AR-15 Pistol Buffer Tube Cover
CMMG 5.56 Lower Parts Kit
BAD A.S.S. Ambi-Safety Selector

Can't decide on the muzzle device, might go with the Noveske KX3 Flash Suppressor because I hear it generates a hell of a fireball...

is there a gas port on that barrel? it doesn't look like it's threaded.

How come some of you build it without some sort of gas system when stores are selling them with gas piston on and just slaps a bullet button and bobsled on?

edit:

I didn't buy because I enjoy the challenge of building and very few people make .458 SOCOM side charger pistol uppers with gas piston systems. If I ordered that from Tepon Jutsu I probably would have paid well over $2,000 instead of about $1,400 in parts.

Also because the lower is home made by me, it's 100% paperless which is 100% legal.

It's difficult to make a featureless AR pistol because it would require the magazine well inside of the pistol grip and no barrel shroud/hand guard.

Could you essentially do this and create a bullpup style pistol where you actually grip a frame built up around the magazine.

AR15 mags are a bit thick, but it would make for a killer 9mm AR pistol.

Theoretically, yes.

In practice that's a lot of weird parts to make.

Made a short .50 Beowulf AR pistol shooting vid. There's a lot of laughter in this video cause it really doesn't do it justice. This thing is just ridiculous when you shoot it.

You sir are a genius. If your limited to 10 rounds in CA, then you might as well have the biggest ten rounds you can find! I'd love to see how it performs on an engine block!!

If you build one yourself, go with a muzzle brake that directs only sideways. I started with what AA calls the "Millenium" brake, which while more effective than the one I have on now (and cooler looking), directs way too much blast back into your own face with the little 12" barrel. Oops! Gave me a headache shooting it like that. Probably makes way more sense out past 20".

Oh and when I take it to a public range I always warn everyone several lanes in either direction

Yep that was the point! 10 rounds is the "normal" capacity for this caliber, so nothing really neutered for CA. Plus I'm only aware of maybe 2 other .50 Beowulf AR pistols out there anywhere in the US, so I was able to do something pretty unique with my first 80% lower build.

Got an engine block and a place near the bay area to shoot it?
