Default Polish, Yugo, or Romanian Tokarev pistol.... which one?

I'm real interested in getting one of these old pistols but i'm not sure which one to get. I hear mixed reviews on each one. Is there one better than the other?

Which one is the better quality?

One of each? Also throw in a Norinco/Chicom as well and a CZ52, oh yeah and a russian.

You never can have enough Tokarevs.

Between Yugo, Pol, and Rom? Eh...

A Yugo M57 is a pretty nice Tok. If you don't have one yet, get one.

My "new" Yugo from Aimsurplus
IMO the longer grip/9 round mag gives it a much more 1911 look and feel than the 8 round variants.
The cosmo on this was very modest. Don't know if everyone gets this lucky.

I have one each, beautiful condition Romanian Tok & Yugo M57. I thought I would like the Yugo better due to the longer grip. Strangely, the Romanian is a much better shot with a superior trigger. I took them both to the range last weekend, put about 150 rounds downrange total while switching between the two. I walked away with the Romanian being my favorite.

Either way, the 7.62x25 is a really fun round to shoot! I have a CZ-52 on the way to further build my Eastern Block handgun set!

I've never shot a Yugo or a Pol, but our Romy is one sweet gun. The most accurate handgun we own. Hard to beat for the money.

My Norinco is 100% reliable & shoots the hot Czech steel core SMG ammo without a problem. The ergonomics of the Tokarev sucks though. A C-96 or CZ-52 fits the hand much better. Don't shoot 7.62x25mm Tok ammo in a C-69, only use 7.63 Mauser rounds for a broomhandle.

Well I was wondering the same thing. Based on reviews by others, due to the 9 shot capacity, and location of the safety on the yugo m57, I went with that one. I went with AIM and got my hands on it Saturday. It is in excellent condition. No need for the handpick option. It came with some Cosmo, but to me that is part of the fun. Nothing like breaking down a firearm and wiping it down. Very happy with AIM.

I think with Tok it really matters more how the after market safety was added.

I had a Romanian from Turner's a few years ago and the safety was added very poorly. The one I got from JG looked more professional.

I just picked up a Polack from Classicarms. One of the nicest surplus pistols I've ever bought. Made in 1952, it has much cleaner machining than my Norinco Tok. I also bought a bunch of Bulgarian surplus ammo a few years back from Classicarms and it's cheap and relatively clean, just don't forget to use some ammonia after you shoot it since it's corrosive.

Wold also makes Tok ammo. You can even get jhp if you wanted to use the gun for home defense. Not saying a you would, but you certainly could.
