Wow!!! Thanks for the explanation. That is a lot of hoops to jump through. I am sure you are safe. Incredible!!! Maybe California would prefer all of you just do this to the bad guys..... Just kidding.

It is absolutely insane how CA rules the safe hand gun list. Used to work at a gun shop. The exact same gun, same material etc, but with a different finish requires an aditional drop test. It's extortion. I would love to see the ca women gunners march on sac! Afterall guys are all crazy gun nuts. Maybe they will listen to you.

One more question. I have a friend in LA - we talk on the phone once a year. This last time, the subject of CHL's came up. I said I had one....she said she wanted one but it was nearly impossible to get one. If you did, you had to have the gun in the trunk of the car - not on your person. I can't believe that - so I am asking the CHL's or CWL's on this board if that is true. Sounds too far out there to be true....I hope.

What is a CHL or CWL? Are you talking about a CCW? I am not familiar with either of those terms or the rules about keeping a gun in the trunk of a car(except for transport if you do not have a CCW)

I'm looking for one for IDPA matches but can't decide on what to get

I like the feel of Sigs in my hand but the 226 is too big. I can't reach the mag release with my strong hand and the DA trigger is too heavy. The SA is sweet though! Maybe I should just snag my hubby's Sig P250 and he can get another off duty carry.

The Springfield is a touch smaller, but doesn't feel as comfortable, although the DAO trigger is nicer than the Sig

Glocks - all the mags I've loaded are a bear!

Maybe I need to try a few more SW's...

Decisions, decisions...

In Texas, it is called a CHL - concealed handgun license or a CWL - concealed weapons license. Sorry for the confusion. Different states, different terms.

I have nerve damage in my hands and loading a mag can be like a bear for any semi I have but I have this which makes all the difference in the world. It is quick, easy and oh so nice on the hands.

BTW - I have two Springfields and they feel great in my hand, never had a jam and they are very accurate but it comes down to what you feel is right in your hand - keep searching

I have a CCW and I do not have to put my gun in the trunk at any time. I carry on body even while driving. In some counties in LA though, I know that it is next to impossible to get a CCW. Not sure which areas but I have heard that. Now prior to me getting my CCW, if I wanted to go shooting, I had to have the gun unloaded and locked in the trunk to take it to and from but not now.

Just a recommendation... How about a Black on Black Escalade with bullet proof windows and conceable turrets coming out of the left and right fenders?

The uplula is a lifesaver... or at least a thumb saver. Before I got mine, I could only (painfully) squeeze 8 rounds into my blocked 10 round mags. With it, all 10 are a breeze.

Folks, I don't get it. If it's basically the same handgun, how can one finish on the slide be acceptable in CA and another finish not. What am I missing?

Seems like the same mechanical device should be approvable in any finish, no?

While I'm at it, what do you ladies recommend for a CCW? (Guys, we love you, but I'm asking for the women's opinions on what they like, just now). My biggest issue seems not to be the handgun itself, but the dang holster!

I prefer my XD9 sub compact sometimes for my carry and sometimes I prefer my Sig P239 9mm. The Sig because it is slightly thinner with the single stack but the DA on it is 10lbs and my XD9 has a PRP trigger group in it so it is a bit easier. It also depends on what day of the month it is, which pair of pants are fitting better and what my carry position is. LOL

LOL Bugguts - I do have my summer and winter gun. In Texas, I am not wearing a heavy shirt in 105 degree weather so I use my Ruger 38 LCR that cannot be seen under a T-shirt or a thin blouse- Winter, it doesn't matter, I have a jacket on - so I carry the biggest one I have

vgcarp - I use a 9mm M&P for IDPA. Mine doesn't have a thumb safety, so it's no-fuss. XD is also a good choice.

LdyApxr - my husband mentioned the other day that we spend more on ammo than we did on each of the guns. At least that's his excuse for buying another.....
