I don't think Amazon is an authorized dealer, so rebate might not work...

According to Nikon themselves, they are: http://www.nikonusa.com/en_US/IMG/Im...ed_Dealers.pdf

You are correct. I was looking at the participating dealer list at Nikon.
http://www.nikonpromo.com/bdc.php

But sure enough, if you click "where to buy", Amazon is there.

Sweet price!

Would this work well on a Marlin XT-22TR rifle?

I was planning on getting a cheapie scope for my .22 rifle but this seems to have really good reviews and is not too pricey. I eventually want to get a .308 rifle for hunting and I was thinking I could eventually put this scope on that.

What's the difference between the normal version and the rimfire version?

Parallax is set at 50 yards instead of 100. Applies to most any non-AO rimfire scope.

So if ordered this one, will it work well with my 10/22? I only got it because of great reviews, I had Amazon credit, the price is good, and rebate kicks in to boot.

Should work great, I have the rimfire version of this scope on my 10/22.

Ordered one of my own to use on a future centerfire setup.

40mm should use medium height rings. That's what I've used on both of my 40mm scopes. Type of mount...personal preference IMO.

I have a question, since I'm a total noob in regards to scopes..

Would this be considered mid tier or top tier stuff? And what is the optimum distance range to be shooting with? 100-400 yards?

This would be low end , but not junk, should be just fine for the budget minded person

Price was raised to $167, I luckily had one sitting in my cart at $139 and it let me complete the order at that price.

it is still possible to order at the old price, but it's out of stock, Amazon will ship it when they get it back in stock. Below the add to cart button, select Amazon as seller for $139.95 price, plus rebate....

I received mine yesterday. Looks pretty good so far. However, I didn't order rings with it, so I didn't mount it yet.
