Default Possession of Ammo in public in bags of 50 (No Magazines)

A) What kind of issues could one run into if you're stopped while in possession of ammo. No magazines, no firearms, just ammo.

B) What about near/in a school zone I live 1489ft from one school and pass within 1500 of another while walking my usual route.

C) Do the "to-and-from" rules apply?

D) Is there a limit on how much ammo you can legally carry?

E) I own a plate carrier and some Team Wendy training plates - I assume because they do not have ballistic properties it is legal to wear those while training, correct?

Ammo is not regulated that way.

You can carry it around the same way you can carry your shopping bag from Safeway. If you try to carry it into a "secure area" expect it to get taken away by the guard that does not know that it isn't regulated.

Just be aware that there is fire code rules for black powder, but those usually don't apply to modern smokeless powder that is used in modern cartridges.

As far as armor, you can even wear full-on body armor with soft armor and plates while shooting. You might look strange while doing it, but it is legal.

Armor is only illegal if you are wearing it while committing another crime.

I am not a lawyer and I am frequently wrong. Using this as legal advise is a terrible idea.

Re: Body Armor - http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/cacode/PEN/3/4/2/3.5/s12370

Yeah I wouldnt wear plates while draggin tires down the beach or walking a few miles along the beach front. They are far to expensive and would raise far to many questions.

The 'Restricted/secured area' obviously would be a no go.

I ask because I've used 400-500 rounds of ammo as "weight" in my bags while training or trying out new gear. I;ve considered modifying 30round build kits and filling them with sand and epoxy to simulate weight but why would I waste perfectly fine magazines XD. Maybe wood blocks with lead weights or something I dont know.

Iw as considering buying a weighted vest similar to the ones used by football players but thought that was a waste considering i already own one.

The hardpart for me is the old rule..

Avoid stupid people in stupid places doing stupid things. I have a feeling an officer or concerned citizen (sheep) would agree that my behavior could be SPSPST. I dunno.. Just want to weight my options.

Train as you would fight right?

Unusedusername has it.

Other than bringing ammo onto school grounds, no worries.

^^^ THIS ^^^

This isnt Ohio... This is a state where on one side of a road you could be a LAC on the other, your a felon.

Not gonna deal with it.

Possession of all quantities of ammo is possible at the range, in a parking lot, at a friends house etc etc etc.

I meet a guy when I buy ammo and my friends think im crazy. If a cop rolled up and thought it was a drug deal, I know i have little to worry about.

Using ammo as weight isn't a stupid idea if you ask me. it weighs a lot and i have cans and cans full of it.

"Training" with full magazines for weight is just asking for negative attention.

Why would you want to do that?

If you are going to train on muscle beach, strap a couple plates on a fishing vest or something.

If you want to train in full combat gear, go out to the desert or a range, where full mall ninja mode doesn't turn as many heads.
