Each department has its own exams and physical requirements. They won't tell you what's on the exam, but they usually will tell you what the physical test is.

Your local library should have something for the POST standard test like the CA Peace Officer entrance exam... forgot the name of the study guide... but anyway, the POST physical is also standardized but every department is free to add on to it to do their own thing too.

Ask the department what is their recommendation on how to prepare. It's not a secret, they should tell you how to prepare.

Great! Thanks for the information. Guess it's time to visit the library.

Reserves now go to the same academy as regulars to earn their modular level 3, 2 or 1 POST certificates or actual regular academy Level 1 certificates.

So physical fitness is important. In addition, the agency that you want to join with have their own physical and written tests.

Not true. Regulars only go to a full basic POST academy, which is not done in modules. Modules are only offered by outside entities such as junior colleges. Anyone qualified can go to the full basic academy if that academy allows it, but then you are a level 1 reserve if you are picked up.

Any advice? A little nervous...

Allow me some clarification:

You can get your level 1 POST certificate through a regular academy or by attending a modular POST academy. I know many officers who completed the three modular POST levels and then their agencies field training and now are "regulars".

Level 1 modular (which can only be attained after completing all 3 levels) is equal to a regular Level 1 academy certificate in the eyes of most LEAs.
