Default My FIRST AR-15 build, and yes I知 stoked!!!

Alright, so I have been waiting for a few years to gather up some money to start my build (and turn 18), well today was my first step....

I bought an 80% lower, bullet button, buffer tube, buffer spring, buffer, endplate, and Magpul MOE stock in black.

Tell me what you think!! Im pretty excited about this rifle!!

P.S. sorry about the weird lighting, can稚 really see the stock.

Sweet. You should be stoked, who wouldn't be?

Also, are you going to refinish it after you drill the holes? (otherwise the holes may wear out faster.)

Yeah I’ll keep you all updated for sure!! Im just some broke teenager with no job right now, so it might take a few months. But as soon as I get the lower finished up and my upper put on it Ill post pictures!!

I might have it anodized after I mill it out, but I was thinking about getting a Cerakote finish on it in some kind of subtle digital camo, nothing too flashy.

I have no idea where in the state you are located but here in Orange County there is $25 per piece batch run hard annodizing

Oops that wasnt overly clear
sorry about that bud

He is located out in San Berdo out on the way to Vegas
so it will be a bit of a hike for you but I will be doing it from here in Irvine

but at $25 per piece it is well worth it
try finding annodizing cheaper than that
I tried and everyone wants huge batch runs

No problem man, it’s all good. Cool thing was that the place I bought it from sells raw 80%’s for $80, and anodized ones for just $10 more!! Plus they sold me that brand new MOE stock for like $50. Didnt charge all the tax, and gave me a few bucks off. Super chill guys there!!

Does anybody know of a place in north county SD that does laser engraving? I had the thought to put my family crest on the side of the mag well. That would be awesome.

I refined mine on my paperweights, but Im fairly sure I would long be dead before the wear become an issue

Still trying to find an upper half for when I put the LPK in this lower. Doesn’t look promising out there.

Default So I got the lower completely done!

Pretty excited, got my lower parts kit on thursday and put it all together without too much difficulty. The only thing that was a pain in the *** was the fire selector, I had to sand it down a LOT to get it to fit in its hole. Other than that everything went together fine (CMMG parts kit). Now all I need is my upper and a few thousand rounds of ammo!!

How to post a picture

Makes it easier for us to see your cool black rifle.

Enjoy. Here is a quick tip and a mistake most new guys make. Do not tighten the bullet button all the way down so that is it snug. You want it in there enough to require the use of a tool, but not so tight that there is no play in the magazine. You should be able to grab the magazine push and pull on it and feel a little bit of movement. If you cannot, then it will cause feeding problems and your rifle will jam. Most new guys jams and malfunctions are caused by this.

Nice!! Ive been curious about this new .300 black out craze thats started, seems like a very cool way of getting a larger caliber on the same platform without going with the .308 in an AR 10. Let me know how it turns out!!

Very nice. What does your AR15 tip the scales at? Looks light (a good thing).

Thanks!! I took it shooting the day I finished it and shot about 40 rounds with no problems. As it is right now, when unloaded it weighs about 6.5 pounds.
