Thumbs down Turner's Chino Hills Bad service. Never again

Called them up To find out if they have any RUGER SR-22 rifles in stock, the guy that got the call did not give a name, but stated to me no. I ask if they could order one, he said there is no such gun and that ruger only sells sr-22 pistols, I told him its a real gun that its a basic rugger 10 22 with a nortic ar-15 looking kit on it. He said there is no such gun and he sells guns for a living so he would no. I ask to speak to a manager and he hung up on me.


called back and got a manager, and let him know that service like this is not acceptable to me and i have purchased 3 guns from there and I would no longer buy from them. he said he would try to find the person who hung up on me and they do sell them but have none in stock but could order one for the msrp 682.00 he said( they sell online for 470.00). If im paying 700 for a 22 I demand non rude service. and maybe some one that knows guns better than me or would look a gun up before he thinks he knows it all..

My family will no longer buy from them

I've purchased A lot of guns from Turners. Overall, I average decent customer service. It is hit and miss tho. Usually it's isolated to someone who is just not as educated on the subject or firearms in general for that matter. That being said I prefer to support some of the smaller local guys in my area. The customer service is unbeatable.

Chino Hills is one of Turner's better stores. Hopefully they will find out who took the call and square him away.

Marine drill instructors used to call them the 10%...

BTW - the SR-22 rifle was hot when it came out a couple years ago and Turner's used to carry it. I still see them online and at BIG shoes stores on clearance.

I bought 2 hand guns from them and they were nice, I liked going there because it was in a clean area. But ignorance, rudeness, all based on stupidly talking to a paying costumer. He would not even try to look the gun up because he knew there was no such gun, he said that i would have to come for anything else. If i did that to a customer I would be I would be fired.
Were some other gun stores around?
Also there fees for online gun purchase/ transfer 125. is that high

Turner has never had great customer service its just tolerable. Ive been to many!!! They will be helpful so long as you are really going to buy, otherwise it doesn't really matter. they don't care for looky loos. With that said I find this to be true with a lot of gun dealers (except riflegear!). They have there favorites and people they don't care for and that's just the way it is. I have never walked into any gun store and received an open ARM greeting. Take it for what it is. If you can get someone to help you and answer a few question then your probably in a better place then most. How many McDonald's have you been to where you received great customer service? Service sucks, but its what you expect. The food is quick and cheap so you keep going back.

Your best bet is to jump on Gunbroker and use the FFL finder. I found two local guys that do home-based FFL, I have never paid more than $25 for an FFL to receive a firearm for me and an additional $25 to transfer it to me.

We concentrate on our core business- selling new, used and consigned guns in our 14 stores. Handling business for out-of-state dealers is not something we can do for $25 - $50.

I actually went into this location the other day while my wife was next door in the salon. Im just moving in state and know the laws for the most part but I had a few questions regarding laws and their policies. I had some of the best customer service ive ever received in a gun store despite having to wait the rush out from the crowd. I believe the guy behind the counters name was Chris. He answered all my questions, we shot the breeze, I looked at some guns and he wasn't in an rush to move on to do nothing or hide in the back.
I considered using some other stores due to recommendations and reviews but after that good service I will more then likely use them for any new purchases. Hopefully its just a flaw with one guy having a bad day!

125 is five times the cost of 25 and 125 is 2 1/2 times the 50 maybe you could do it for 75.

I realize that online prices are usually lower almost 300 cheaper for the gun i want,( that your staff say doesn't exist and will not look to see if they are wrong) than your prices, and you want to sell guns from your store not have people buying them online... and that's your choice I would over look all that and pay more but rude ignorant staff when i am m paying almost 300 more than buds for a gun not going to happen.

I've never had a problem with Turner's Chino Hills (or Chino before that) but then again I don't expect the salespersons to kiss my boots when I go to the store.

+1 Chris is a good guy -
The ones I've dealt with there are by far and large, cool, friendly, helpful folk... which is why I don't hesitate to buy stuff from there and do PPTs as well. I've been there where every single employee had their hands full, and have had to wait, but I always get checked on and helped in the end. Just my $0.02

The Rancho Cucamonga Turner's sucks too. Had 2 weapons on layaway. They never once called me when they had the serial #'s to start the DOJ process. Had to call another Turner's to find out they had same weapons that I had been waiting for in their warehouse? Called the Rancho Turner's back and told them that another Turner's had the same weapons in their warehouse? They said they would check into it. An hour later they called back "oh....we have the serial #'s for your weapons now. Also sent emails to customer service on their website that were never answered.

Maybe you use that comment in context, they said they could not do it for 25 or 50.. so why not do it reasonably inflated at 75 or 100 as he stated they could do it for 50 or above that but chose not lol, there is plenty of people doing it for lower than 125 so i will use them as should others so i wont need to use brick and motar thanks for the idea though.

lol I am not boycotting any other businesses, because i am not paying 300 dollars more for a product than i could get on line and receiving bad service from them as they are appreciative of my business and letting them make good money.. And places that have bad service are priced the same as on line. You cant control what they do yes but after a manager finds out what they did you at that point can control them right out of a job.., or make it right. I was on my work phone so the call was recorded I offered to email it to the manager so he could make it right.... he said no thanks..

If i was on tape being ignorant, telling the customer he is stupid and not selling a product that we sell I would be fired but then again i don't make minimum wage and would never treat a customer like that.. But that's why i make the big money

I always get a stand-off-ish vibe when I go into a Turners. Pasadena store, not bad - West Covina store, ok as long as they're not busy (they need to fix the AC!) - Chino Hills, I'll help you if you look like you're going to buy something but don't ask too many questions.

I ordered a lockable gun cabinet from the Chino Hills store a couple years back. They were out in the store, but would have one from the warehouse next week no problem. Next week comes and goes, no phone call. I call and no one knows what's going on. I return to store in-person and it takes the staff less than 5 minutes to tell me, "Oh, those cabinets are back ordered indefinitely, the supplier hasn't shipped any units in months." Needless to say, I demanded a full refund and bought the same cabinet on-line for less, delivered to my front door.

No salesman can know all of the guns and products available but to be rude is wrong. A call back to the manager was the correct thing to do. As for the cost of FFL transfer, if you knew the hoops California puts dealer thru you would consider $150.00 cheap. Turners is also higher because they dot the I's and cross their T's using extra care in the transfer. Many other dealers have been closed due to FFL transfers. They cost more because they do more to insure a correct transfer.
