Default LC9... phew! What is your dedicated range gun?

Just took the new(ish) LC9 to the range. Fun little thing, but I was NOT shooting good at all. Even after putting 300 rds down range. Shooting low and wayyyy right at 15-25yds. I hope it's just me cause I want to get this on my CCW and the qual is a the 25yd range...

Anyway. I am happy with that purchase. Put 600 rds down range on the Glock 23 as well this morning before work, and my coworker buddy's M&P 40. Can't wait until I get my 642 off layaway from Bud's one of these paydays..

After that next purchase is either an XD or another RIA 1911 (I am starting to miss mine) but I will go for a full size this time, screw carrying that thing lol I want a dedicated range gun.

What is your dedicated range gun? (Not the safe-baby, or your SD/HD/Carry gun) What is your gun that is JUST set up for shooting the hell out of at the range everyyy time?? I am thinking an XD Tactical or 1911 full size.

My M&P 9, 9c, and .45 go on every range trip, as well as my Ruger MKIII. Then I round out the assortment with a Beretta 92F or two, one of my Smith revolvers, my LCP or LC9.

M&P 45 is my main go to gun. The XD has taken a back seat since.

Extremely Common. Shooting a SubCompact is another ball game. I am considering ditching the automatic subcompact I have and switching to a snubby revolver. I shoot those ages better than I do my subcompact.

Lol CCW qual @ 25y makes no sense.

My range gun is the MKIII2245 with a bunch of upgrades and a red dot. Super fun.

Yeah I was wondering what the heck I was doing wrong, gave up, and just shot paper at 7yds for fun. Not sure if it's me or the sights yet. I'm going to spend maybe 200rds week after next to figure this out.

Not sure, the range I did my CCW qual at is 25 yds... I think? Someone can chime in and correct me, but it's at Cordova Shooting Center in Rancho Cordova.

Lol your telling me. It's ridiculous. But I double-checked the website and it says 15-25yd pistol range, but from what I remember it was all 25yds.

I'm cheap and i don't like noise or recoil, so I almost always have either a G19 with Advantage Arms 22LR conversion kit (for SD training at 30' or less) OR a Browning Buck Mark Target model (for target shooting at 50').

My Ruger Blackhawk (shooting 38 special handloads) gets a lot of use too at 50', but not as much as the 22s.

One that comes with me every range trip is my Ruger 22/45 MK III with G10 1911 grips installed.

I also love my S&W 627 PC 5" 8-shot
I admit.. sometimes it does become a safe queen, but every time I bring it out.. I remember why I still keep it. This is a result of my last outing, first volley at around 45 feet. 3" target. If I spent a little more time, I can get it all centered (took a few shots before I adjusted my aim centered closer to bullseye). Before this, the gun probably didn't see any action for a good 8+ months.

These 22's come with me every trip

The other revolvers rotate in and out. I usually bring stainless guns for easy up keep.

The Ruger MKIII you see in the pic. I've put more rounds down that already than both of those 1911's combined. Fun, long sight radius, and cheap to shoot. More accurate than you, and controls combined with the rosewood grips with thumbrest are great.

Ruger 22/45 (Mk II version, if the 22/45's have an equivalent Mk number).

CZ-75 SA

Actually, who am I kidding? All my guns are range guns because ... I'm not in any career that requires me to use a gun, and I don't CCW!

I hate to say it (Exile Machine) but my G21 is my least shot gun. I can't hit the side of a barn with it (from the inside!). BUt maybe it just needs more trigger time, even though I've had it for 15 years.

When we qualified at 25 yards, we had a much higher hit ratio than we do since they shortened the qualifying distance. If you can hit it at 25, you can hit at closer distances.

I just did my LEOSA annual qualification, which was at 7 yards. I was annoyed with myself because 1 round was outside the 10 ring out of two quals. Most everything was in the "X" ring.

At 25 yards, I would regularly shoot a 285 (300 possible) or higher. Frequently above 290, which is "Distinguished Expert" with LASD. My best was a 299. Course of fire in those days was 6 rounds slow fire at a bullseye, no time limit; 12 rounds in 50 seconds at a bullseye, 12 rounds in 40 seconds at a silhouette (hits in the 8-10 ring were worth 10 points, anywhere else in the black was worth 5 points) for a total of 30 rounds, 300 points maximum. This was done with a revolver, double action only, reloading with speedloaders.

Practice is critical.

I would hope they are not qualifying at 25 yards. When I did my Nevada LTC. The farthest we went out was 15 yards. Beyond that one should be running the other direction or taking cover.

My personal belief is that the LC9 is a backup to the backup kind of pistol. Under 7-10 yards kind of pistol.
