Default Looking for a Ruger 10/22 in NorCal

I just started shopping for a Ruger 10/22. Can anybody recommend any shops in the SF Bay Area that I should be looking at? People have suggested Big 5 and it looks like I just missed a sale last week. And there's no Turners in norcal I'm just looking for the normal 10/22.. no need for the SS barrel or take down version.

Go to big 5 and ask if they will honor the sale price, the one in Ukiah has done that for me in the past.

I suggest buying used
The older 10-22's have a metal trigger group

Wildhawker just posted a 10-22 in the classifieds
go check that out

Used older 10-22's FTW

+1 for Big5. If they won't honor the sale price (which they might), it'll be on sale again in a week or 2.

Thanks for the replies guys. I already contacted wildhawker, I didn't know Big 5 had sales on 10/22's so often. I'll give Eddy's a call too...

if you ever make your way to the sac area, Wild Sports typically has theirs on "manager's special" $199

has been on manager's special for like 2 years now lol

i think this might be your lucky day. i went to big 5 in my area and their ruger 5035's or 10/22's are on BO. But, i finally found one! check out targetmasters in milpitas. i just picked up the OEM version & not standing by for DROS. there's one left & it's actually the one with a SS barrel and reciever. the takedown version. for $336. if you don't pick it up, a buddy of mine has been looking for one & he may head down there soon.

@Greg - the bay model is the one I'm looking for. Does it ever go on sale or is the $239 price year round?

@Mossy - I don't go up to Sac much but I might make a excuse to go up there if it's $199

@EP - Thanks, I was ust there two weeks ago.. wasn't looking for one at that time though. I'm interested in the base model so I'm going to pass on the takedown version. May I ask how much you paid for yours?

$239.95 is my price all the time. Everything in my shop is priced as low as possible which precludes me from having "sales", unless I get a special buy.

Basspro in manteca is having a sale until 5/20/12. But it appears their sale price is $249.99, and it's only on the digital camo finish.

I'm looking to buy a .22 rifle also. I'm looking at either a ruger 10/22 or a marlin 795. Any suggestions? On another note, I'm interested in a Mosin Nagant. If anyone can help me that'd be great. I'm looking around San Jose

Go to reeds indoor range by the airport. Henry or miller are pretty knowledgeable and can help you out. Thats where I bought my 10 22.

Kerley's in Cupertino had one last time I was there. They also have used guns. I've dealt with them recently and been very happy with their service.

Mel Cottons usually has them too

Gun Exchange has a bunch of used guns and had some 10/22's 2 weeks ago.

I just picked one up at Big 5, they had an online price of $199 but it was a misprint. Oh well I was able to score one for that price.

I haven't seen a 795 at any of the local dealers, except Big 5 and its been a while.

Awesome, thanks for the leads..

Yeah I saw that misprint ad about 2 days after it expired. I guess that's how it works out sometimes.

I was at a few shops a week or so ago, Kerley's in Cupertino had'm for ... $249, I think, kinda hard to see the price tag from over the counter when the two employees were busy taking care of ONE PPT. Not sure if they had any used ones for the same reason. That day aside, my experiences there have been mostly positive. The first time I went in was probably the best as they had some four or five employees working. Anymore I just get the younger guys working there who leave something to desire when it comes to customer service.

Sportsman's Supply in Campbell was selling them for $259, I actually got to hold the rifle there too. I asked if they had any used 10/22s but the guy helping me said they don't get too many people selling used because the new ones are so cheap and most people are inclined to hold on to theirs. Dunno if this was true or if he was just trying to get me to buy a new one, hard to say in either case.

Since I'm in the same boat as Firebert, I'm going to wait to see if Big 5 puts them on sale for cheap, though I'll more than likely hit up Eddy's when I get impatient. I've been looking at picking one up online as well but I think in the end it'll still be around the same price as buying it from a store.

Currently interested in purchasing a Ruger 10/22 in the Santa Clara County area. Preferably the compact/wood stock version. Leapers UTG Quadrail would be a major plus.

i got mine for a ticketed price of $236.

I also recommend eddy's. i've never bought anything from him, but months ago i saw he did have some. i also passed up on that & they were gone. i'm sure greg can arrange something with you

One just listed "like new" in Vacaville for $200. Check out the private firearms for sale in the marketplace if you are interested. Hard to find good used ones that haven't been fired to death. Would you want one for $150 that has had 10-20,000 rounds run through it? Better to buy a new one in that case, unless of course you like the metal trigger and guard etc. or you can cash and carry? That is just my opinion of course. I happen to like the older ones, but I wouldn't want a worn out one.....unless I were going to do a build anyway. Like use the receiver, and use tactical solutions everything else and maybe a revolution stock.

If you are going to eventually build one up, then I suggest looking into getting a used one. I bought a new SS one from Big 5, only to swap out the barrel, stock and hammer months later. After that a co-worker sold me his 1975 10/22 for $120, said he put about 10-20,000 rounds thru it, still ran like a champ. Ended up changing out the stock and barrel on that one too.

I was planning on changing the stock as my first move. Maybe after a while I'd get a new barrels as well. I really don't mind having a used one as long as its not beat to death.
