Default Poaching Chronicles (almost funny)

So a joint investigation (still ongoing) between SO and F&G landed a few idiots in hot water (and the concrete and steel hotel) last month.

The "information highway" came out and bit some folks in my neck of the woods. MCSO along with assistance from F&G followed up a lead on a pot grow and possible F&G violations. Served a warrant and found the pot. In their search they also found the suspects freezer with more than legal possession limits of game (25+ ducks, untagged venison etc.), fish (coho & steelhead) and some prohibited species.

NOW COMES THE FUNNY PART: While detaining and questioning, one of the wardens was holding the suspect's iPhone. Phone rings, warden looks at the screen, and its a "bragging rights" photo of 10 steelhead laid out on the bed of a pickup with the license number in perfect view. Well the pickup didn't belong to the sender of the picture (ID'ed by cell #) but to his poaching partner instead. So now they turned to suspect #1's computer and took a look through his Facebook account, uncovering even more leads.

I did not make this up, as the warden report to the commission at the last FGC meeting went into detail of the investigation. Though not a friend, I happen to know who suspect #1 is, as this is a small rural community. I have no sympathy for him or the others and their actions. Suspect #1 has been charged with at least one felony offense.

That's awesome. Small world I heard about this a few weeks ago too through the grapevine. Friend of a friend is one of the wardens investigating. There was an article in the pressdemocrat.com last week talking about Idiot#1 and identifying him.

Yes indeed....And if you read the comments by one of his extended family members in the PD article, He would think that he needs to suffer the consequences and pay his dues, if he is ever going to be allowed back on their family's beautiful ranch again.

This isn't the first time a bad egg was born. I've talked to a lot of his age group piers that think he will skate clean, and its no big deal. I'm not a judge nor a jury, but if he's guilty...They better take a different view of how they hunt and fish.

Yeah, I understand. I'm not from the exact area, obviously a little south. But I understand the small town dynamics. Hopefully his last name doesn't buy him any leniency. From my understanding Mendocino county is a little more strict on F&G violations. Hopefully he catches some heat over this.
