Default Reddit discusses Gun Laws

Hello everyone. I thought most of you would be interested in reading a discussion on Reddit about gun ownership, laws, restrictions, their adverse effects, and how people from around the world feel about them. I have been lurking on these forums for quite some time and figured it's about time to post something. I'm a Southern California resident who thinks the gun laws here are some of the most detrimental laws to our society and would love to see them change. Anyways, thought this would be an interesting look into the mindset of others across the world. Enjoy!

The narwhal bacons at midnight!

I've actually noticed that the gunnitors generally echo the sentiments you'll find here: i.e. "gun control" doesn't stop crime, makes the innocent helpless in the face of armed criminals, etc.

But welcome, and cross post this to /r/guns and see if we can't get more redditors to come out and play.

Honestly, you lost me at 'people around the world'. I have personally given up discussing guns/self defense/freedom in general with anyone that isnt an American, seriously.

They just dont get it. How can they? Of course my experiance is limited, but wide enough to know not go there with people from contries that line up to turn in their firearms....

Its not as bad as I thought. Of course all the commenters sound like yanks

I am thinking it would go something like ... “I told you so” and “You weren’t supposed to use my book as template...”

That's probably where they got the idea.

Very surprising.
Most comments are common sense and pro-gun.

I must be talking to the looney ones then... I get the impression that there is a bizzaro world out there where a group like brady has the same power the NRA does here...

Right is wrong, good is bad... I just gave up. I mean even in California there are some limits, although it doesnt seem like it sometimes.

Not going to bother with the reddit thread predicably most people will probably be progun as american computer dorks, and the flaming anti gunners will be from other countries. the few times I've ducked into r/guns it seems like firearms 101, so I just can't get interested.

After reading that Reddit thread I have just one question: So what's the real scoop with guns in Australia? I figure one of you knows the actual answer. I keep hearing it's impossible to buy a gun in Oz, but when I ask Aussies about it, they all seem to think it's simple to get the necessary permit.

I would imagine its as simple as getting a CCW here in LA county... A long list of fines, fee's, bribes, followed by 'Good cause', 'good moral character', regular suprise police inspections of your home, limited amounts of ammo you can have, only one caliber etc...

You know, the usual.

Read, shudder, go hug your wife, then say a prayer thanking God you live in the USA....

Thats what I did.

Here is a good rundown:

Basically, if you're a hunter, it's much easier.
