Default Where can I get a blunderbuss replica or kit?

A kit could be fun because I love to build things, but how hard are they to build? Anyone know a good source for them?

That's exactly why I won't spend one cent at Sportsman's Supply - their policies are asinine.

Damn! $875!? I would have guessed $500 at most, and if it's $875 it should have a nicer wooden stock.

My buddy sent me a link to that sportsmans guide kit maybe a week ago, I thought it was awesome. then i read the ca policy regarding blackpowder firearms, what a joke. That would be a neat kit, and a fun project.

These guys make a very good reproduction. It does not have the flash hole drilled in it, so they can ship it more or less anywhere in the world. But you can drill it yourself once you get it. And it is based on actual blunderbuss designs, not that Elmer Fudd looking caricature that SG has out.

What really annoyed me about that episode is Discover Channel kept flashing the word "silencer" even though the Red Jacket guys used the correct term of "suppressor". They even put on the screen "suppressor = silencer".

Didn't they invent them? A game changer!
Wish I could find the kit I saw for about $300.

My name is Reign Clark. I built Will's 4-bore blunderbuss kit from a blank of Bastogne walnut and a round bar stock for the barrel and breech plug. I test fired his gun to develop a proof and standard load for his particular gun. If I can help anyone with a fine blunderbuss similar to the one I built for Red Jacket, let me know.

Mr. Clark, welcome to calguns!

What does a custom blunderbuss with standard American walnut run?

Reign Clark

I once had occasion to fondle a coupe of these. one was a beautiful short arm made of brass, oval on the business end and wonderfully made. The other had a yoke on the end so it worked more like a swivel gun. Both were about 0.75" ID... I made a 4 bore swivel gun. I haven't fired it but I have faith in it. It was made from 1' DOM pipe 0.75" wall. I made a breach plug and threaded and welded it, and it has a powder chamber turned into it.
A blunderbuss is just the thing to keep by the hearth to protect against invaders.
take care
Mike

you could start, by going to autozone, and getting a transmission fluid funnel, and go from there
