Default Bushnell red dot scopes

Any info on these? Are they on par with Eotech and Aimpoint? Which one is the preferred brand?

I just ordered the Bushnell Trophy MP, it comes in sometime today. I will post some pics once it's in. The bushnell will work great for target/range and hunting. If i was going to Iraq i would take an ACOG or Aimpoint though. EOTech's are also very nice, just shorter battery life.

What about the HOLOsights like the HOLOsight XLP? How are these different than the Trophys?

Additional question.. how well do the Holosights hold up on a shotgun?

From what i have read about Holosights i would stay away from them. Their battery life is horrible and they apparantley drain the battery while not even being turned on. This is just what i have read from the AR15 forums.

Here is a useful link for ya:

no, it doesnt have room to flip up. no co-witness there. if i moved it up further i could achieve it, but i truly dont want a co-witness that badly.

The HOLOSights are made using the EOTech patents and technology. They do not use the same high-end circuitry, nor are they as tough as a true EOTech. They're not much cheaper, either. Get the 512 EOTech. The Bushnell Riflescope HOLOSight is ok, too, but it's not as rugged and it's the N-cell version which eats batteries.

The Trophy MP is made to look like an ACOG. It's a lot of extra bulk for no optical benefit.

His irons are definitely not co-witnessed. It looks like he can not deploy the irons with the optic mounted like that.

If he were able to flip them up and use them through the optic, they would be considered co-witnessed.

Do not waste your money on a Holosight when you can buy an EOTech for a little bit more. I had offers of EOTech's 512 (Rev. F) for $340 shipped/new or $300 used/shipped. It was a hard choice for me, but I went with the Bushnell because I wanted to buy that Magpul stock, rail grips, and the Pmgap 30/10 mag. For its price range the Bushnell MP Trophy is a great optic with a LIFETIME warranty. From what I read EOTech's only have a 3 year (take that with a grain of salt). Eventually I will purchase the EOTech 512 and put the Bushy on a secondary gun. Either way you cannot go wrong.

If I move the optic up a few notches on the rail I can co-witness, but I like it's current position and unless I move to the Middle East I feel pretty safe those paper targets are not going to be attacking me. Of course if I were to move to the Middle East I wouldn't even bring this rifle. I would take the issued gun and optics.
