I use 140gn soft points (nosler partitions or similar) and 61.8gn IMR 4350. I usually apply a moderate crimp from a Lee crimp die to my 7mags. The above is a good general purpose load that should do anything living on the continent. gives right around 3000fps. Not good at close ranges on small body size critters... blows the shiznot out of them.

In a 7mm Magnum, I would use 160gr bullets; either Nosler Partition or Barnes Triple Shock. H4831 or slower powder.

Find One load for EVERYTHING, keep things simple, make your hits.

Barnes 140g TSX with 66 grains of IMR4831 and a Rem 9 1/2M primer for 3200 fps

140gr Nolser PAR and 70grs of RL19 with mag primer give me 3253FPS or 66grs of IMR4350 and mag primer gives me 3157FPS in my Ruger M77 at 15-20 feet over my Chrono.

I have friends in Wy and Montana who use the 140gr Nosler PAR or 145 gr SPBT Speer bullet and they shoot Bison/elk/moose/pronghorns or deer with them. NO need to use 160gr bullets. I found them to just shoot small holes(no extansion) thru smaller deer like we mostly have in Ca and pronghorns etc.

With much expermentation I found 140gr Nosler Par work great. IF I wanted a stouter bullet I would use a Swift A-Frame 140gr bullet. The Hornady 139gr Interbond might work well also. But the Nosler works super so I do not fix what is not broken.

PS THESE LOADS ARE VERY HOT. START LOWER AND WORK UP WATCHING PRESSURE SIGNS.

Too heavy. But do what you like. It is your money/rifle and wounded game.
