Are you asking if "MAC 10" is banned by name, or if you can possess a MAC 10-style lower (like those made by Masterpiece Arms)? You can definitely possess a Masterpiece Arms clone lower, and there are several shops that sell them (as complete guns) in California.

I've got an mpa, its def legal. Id be amazed if a real Mac 10 lower were legal to cross into cali. Id never touch it unless I could verify it were legal 100% and god help you its select fire

Banned by name means its banned especially the lower part with the serial number. If its an original MAC, RPB or Cobray, its banned.

Default OK now I'm confused.

I bought a Cobray M-11/9 in California many years ago (probably about 20+ years ago). Is that pistol now illegal to own in California? It is not select fire, nor is it open bolt firing, but it does say Cobray M-11/9 on it.

I had never heard of any sort of pistol receiver being illegal in California (other than select fire), is there a Cobray M-11 rifle?

The Cobray PM-11 is legal though. There are plenty of pistols or what CA considers machine pistols that are illegal here.

There has been some debate on this forum whether a banned by name receiver is a crime when not assembled into a firearm. I have not seen any definite resolution to the question. This question is probably better addressed in the 2A sub-forum.
