Default Enlisted grunts

I'm wanting to hear from grunts, army, navy, air force, or marines, kids just in the service. Southern California. I want to set up private club guided deer hunts for four or six of you guys away from home for the first time. Drop me a PM if you've got a hunting license and a D9 tag. Private hunting club. No cost to you. Haha, officers need not apply. Just our way of saying thanks.

Location is Zone D9, out of Isabella.

We may be overwhelmed, maybe not. Anyway, I'll set you guys up two to a guide. No guarantee of success, the only guarantee is a good time.

Not a Grunt, or in anymore, but thank you for supporting our boys. Your taking care of them, like they take care of us.

A "Grunt" refers to an infantry MOS/job.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but Army infantrymen are not called grunts. Only Marines are grunts.

Really, no one is called a grunt anymore.

I hear ground pounder or doorkicker more often now.

But, to your statement, yeah, you are wrong. A "grunt" can be from either branch.

Yep, I hear "doorkicker" the most often now.

As an Army Infantryman of 8 years, I can assure you that we are indeed referred to as Grunts on a regular basis.

To the OP, thanks for the support!

As a Forward Observer in the 80s, we always referred to them a either Straight leg or Mech.
It was the difference between us walking or riding.

It used to be that way before they eliminated 11M (Mechanized) and just made everyone either an 11B (used to just be Light Infantry, now it's just Infantry) or 11C (Mortarman). We still call each other "Light" or "Heavy/Mech" or whatever, but grunt is still a used term.

I had a good Officer once. Had a couple of bad ones too.
The bad ones took charge and ran things because they were LTs. They had never done the job before but they were experts.

The goods one was out of West Point, When he got there he said: "SGT Smith, the buck stops with me but you run the show till you get me up to speed." I could respect that.

Sounds like a good one, true, and very uncharacteristically so for a westpointer. Wish I were as lucky. Oh well, we'll see how good I'll be, as I'm switching over to the dark side.

Good looking out OP,

Olds- that's a rare occurrence from a ring knocker.

Inf a definitely still grunts and everyone else is still a pog. Doorkicker to me doesn't have an MOS because plenty of CS (combat support) guys, end up kicking doors

I was unaware that the navy and af had grunts. Apparently, all mos's not starting with an 11 (army) or 03 (usmc) are non essential and not hunting worthy...

EVERYBODY is a soldier before their MOS... All mos's are essential, just cause they may not be a "door kicker" doesnt mean they arent essential.

Navy Corpsmen are on the ground with marines.

Wes, I understand that, and I think you missed my sarcasm. I am a Marine POG, and I am slightly offended at an offer extended only to infantryman. In this day and age, nearly all deployable MOS will see combat, while some grunts never will. If this offer stood for all enlisted service members then cool, but to limit it to grunts is counterintuitive.

How about if it was limited to folks with an actual combat deployment and proof of a direct fire engagement with the enemy?

i don't think direct engagement of the enemy is necessary to prove. most 11b's or anyone that has gone on missions get engaged at all. most raids that i was on the SOB either gave up or was'nt home. engagement of the enemy not exclusive to 11B anymore.
