My retro M16A1 clone. Period correct Nodak receiver, original Colt upper/bcg and shiny handguards, stock and A1 grip. I love this rifle.

You got the period lower and the wrong flash hider? Isn't that an A2? Rifle looks good, but yeah lol

No. It's correct. The M16A1 has the birdcage (open all around, not closed off on bottom like A2), not 3 prong flash hider.

The complete upper came as a group buy off of AR15 several years ago. It's 100% Colt that was in the paper wrap (unissued). Original Colt bolt/carrier/charging handle, the works.

Hardest part of the entire build was finding an original Colt triggerguard in the grey.

I'll cut you some slack as I didn't show the side with the forward assist (defining M16A1 feature).

Ahhhh that makes sense. I've been properly schooled.

Nice score on the upper. Sounds awesome.

I'm not really into 20s, but I did a couple of budget builds recently in 20 just to utilize rifle length furniture I had laying around.

A1s are shorter than A2s and more comfortable because they don't have that spikey knurled crap on the back end.

A1 on top, A2 on bottom:

SloMofo is right. the LOP on the a1 is actually shorter than the a2 which is why I chose the a2. it just looks really long in that pic cuz of the camera angle.

Default 20" HBar

Nothing special. Found a 10 round mag that looks like a 30 a the gun show a few years back. Think it looks cool, though sometimes it fails to feed.

NICE. That looks rad.

I actually like the a2 handguard better than the rail. I am thinking about ditching my quad rail for a rifle length MOE hand guard.
